Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a CAD / CAE Architect to join our IT team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

You will be responsible to analyze, develop, plan, deploy and support an enterprise CAD / CAE architecture that meets or exceeds the needs of all creators and consumers of our digital product documentation. Specifically, focused on evolving and simplifying our CAD and CAE modeling practices, exploiting untapped capabilities / efficiencies, setting / documenting new or changed standards, developing and providing training, and following through ensuring gains are measurable all while driving for quality results as defined by our engineering community, CAD designers, and customers.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • CAD/CAE ecosystem: Continue to develop and evolve our best in class CAD / CAE capabilities driving for improved time to market, quality, collaboration, and efficiency.
  • Handle CAD/CAE Licenses and togehter with PLM-team develop a functional and cost effective way to distribute licenses from several software suppliers.
  • Drive integration capabilities with our PLM system: Provide modeling and documentation consistency across all enterprise CAD users supporting corporate file sharing and collaboration.
  • Mentor and train: Provide new and continuing education for our CAD/CAE employees on the standards, best practices and processes required to generate and manage design models and documentation effectively and efficiently with a focus on delivering quality.
  • Assist PLM program lead with project schedules by identifying technical tasks and system dependencies
  • Work with other IT colleagues to define long-term systems strategies and roadmaps

Skills & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Master of Science in Engineering is preferred.
  • Expertise in CAD/CAE administration, troubleshooting, applying patches and upgrades
  • Experience working with or in a PLM-system
  • Experience with training users on CAD/CAE and PLM.
