Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Robotics Engineer to join our Connected Factory team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The primary function of the Robotics Engineer is to create robust machine design concepts and detailed drawing packages for custom designed machine build projects and support the entire design and build project cycle.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing/selecting robotic systems.
  • Creating simulations and offline programs with Delmia or Process Simulate.

  • Responsible for continue process optimization.

  • Advanced robot programming including DCS, Kuka, ABB.

  • Develop custom robot application code to interface with new technologies.

  • Support maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures.

  • Project management: both internal maintenance projects, and major contractor projects.

  • Develop procedures and maintain proper documentation related to robotics systems.

Skills & Requirements

Experience requirements

  • BS in mechatronics engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience Robotic programming and applications.

  • Excellent robotic high level and back ground programming skills on ABB, Fanuc, KUKA or equivalent brands.

  • Hands on experience commissioning and programming insdustrial robots

  • Robotic mechanical and electrical trouble shooting skills.

Specific Skills

  • Experience with Robot simulation packages as well as off-line programing using Robcad, Delmia 3DX or Process Simulate (preffered).
  • Virtual commissioning experience of a robotics system is a plus.

  • Knowledge on programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, HTML, ROS.

  • Experience on robotics applications such as Spot Weld, Stud Weld, Adhesive, Self Piercing Rivet, Vision, Arc Weld, Roll hemming.

  • Proficient in CAD (CATIA is a plus)

  • Basic PLC programming knowledge is a plus.

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
