Northvolt has an exciting job offer for an experienced and senior Project Quality Engineer to join our passionate team in Västerås.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The Project Quality Engineer will be in charge of ensuring quality requirements are met in the project and that efficient follow-up of the project quality plan is done in the programme. You will be in charge of setting up and executing the Quality Plan for the project at our Västerås Campus reporting to the Head of Quality.

The project quality function will primarily work directly in the various project teams on the Västerås site and close to the contractors and consultants on site. You will be working intimately with the whole programme team in Västerås and also with Purchasing, Supplier quality team, CE experts, Process engineers etc.

In general you have a long experience in Project Quality Management and have been driving large, innovative and challenging CapEx projects, preferably with experience from building up new factories.

Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working in a matrixed project organisation where fast execution is key.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Defining, communicating and managing the Project Quality activities through an approved and operating Project Quality Plan

  • Determining and managing a project Quality audit plan to ensure that projects are operating in compliance with Customer and applicable statutory and regulatory quality management system requirements

  • Managing project non-conformance issues with contractors and consultants to ensure effective corrective actions are taken to achieve a level of zero recurrence

  • Reduce the incidence of non-conformances by adding your quality engineering experience to our team

  • Contribute actively to the projects risk assessment and management of mitigations

  • Identify and implement improvements to our methods, processes as well as process and project control.

  • Ensure knowledge and awareness of Quality requirements within the Project Team, also performing Quality Training activities

  • Collect and analyse project quality data and organise and lead the Project Quality Management Review

  • Ensure the management of lessons learned process and ensure project learning is communicated across the business

  • Develop and agree a fit for purpose Records and Document Management system for the life of the works.

  • Support the commissioning teams with relevant quality activities

  • Supports and facilitates cross functional Criticality Risk Assessment reviews for the assignment of equipment/component criticality ratings

  • Participate in project close out activities by facilitating closure of all project quality actions

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • MSc degree in relevant engineering or quality management discipline
  • 7+ years working experience in Project Quality
  • Experience in Project Quality Management (APQP) / Project Management
  • Thorough understanding of quality principles, regulatory quality systems, internal business systems, and processes is essential.
  • Root cause analysis/8D certified preferred
  • Quality Auditor training & relevant qualification
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience/qualification or a good understanding of construction projects, equipment installation and commissioning and validation
  • Substantial experience in a Project Quality environment
  • Must have worked in multi-cultural environment

  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
