We live in a world where talking is status. We are taught to politely listen, but always with the intent to reply. Eventually only the loudest voice in the room is heard. Meetings, presentations and lectures become boring, demotivating and a destroyer of creativity. People feel left out. Opinions become polarized. And suddenly we can’t hear each-other at all. Surely there must be a better way?

Our vision is to transform the way presentation; meetings and lectures are conducted; from talking to listening. We are proud of our achievements and Mentimeter has even been listed as the fastest growing Swedish startup. Despite this our journey has just started.

We are building a modern and diverse product-first tech company and are based in Stockholm. We are currently looking for a new leader to join us and help with the ongoing work of creating a fun work place and develop our organisation, ourselves and in the end make us reach our ambitious goal (500 million users by 2023) and enjoy every step on the way.

The VP People role will be an extension of the founders’ promise to build a culture-driven company that ultimately aims to make people’s time spent at Mentimeter the best that it could be, and making the company successful as a result.

The role is new so it’s very much up to you to mold it into what you want, we are therefore looking for a senior person to join the team and take the organisation to the next level in this dimension.

Responsibilities for the VP People role:

  • The overall responsibility of our organisational development including but not limiting to:
    • Professional & Personal development structure
    • Leadership training etc
    • Performance management
    • Structure for compensation / benefits
    • People Analytics & Insights
    • Employee handbook / Policies / Routines
    • Culture development and education
    • Planning and execution of conferences
    • Bi-yearly 360 culture & career development / Employee survey
  • Support Line Managers in:
    • Onboarding
    • Talent Management / Succession planning / Retention
    • How we organise, structure, titles, career path and development of Mentimeter staff in a way that they get the most out of their time at Mentimeter and Mentimeter get the most out of them
  • Assist the CFO/CEO with financial projections and analyses of the effects of organisation development
  • Reporting to the CFO in the team we call Catalyst (because they work to be catalysts for the other three teams)

Skills & Requirements

Must have for the role:

  • Have had leadership roles in companies including line management responsibility 8+ (ish) years
  • Good understanding of and interest in culture driven organisations
  • Well knowledged in methods to develop high performing teams
  • Interest in coaching people in their personal and professional development
  • Academic background
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and conceptual)
  • Project management skills (Planning, resource management, organizational skills, stakeholder mgmt, etc.)
  • Ability to manage self and many different tasks
  • Co-operational skills (You will be working with many different functions and people)
  • Be analytical and data driven
  • A tech interest and understanding of how development works is a must

Nice to have:

  • Experience from leadership in engineering teams (scrum/kanban/agile coaching)
  • Experience from modern SaaS organisation (Sales / Marketing)

Not required:

  • You don't have to know Swedish (daily work is carried out in English and we are 19 nationalities at Mentimeter right now)
