Northvolt’s mission is to build the world’s greenest battery with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy.

Northvolt is now looking for a Process Engineer within battery discharge for our recycling operations. The purpose with this process is to discharge battery packs and modules, as preparation for dismantling to cell level.

As Process Engineer Battery Discharge, you will have deep knowledge in process design, equipment handling, operations and maintenance planning, control design etc. You will play an important role in dealing with equipment vendors and collaborating with Northvolt’s factory design team to efficiently integrate the process into the factory. You have extensive experience in the field and have been driving large, innovative and challenging improvement projects in the areas of yield, cost, quality and efficiency. You are a team player, curious and eager to learn.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop process design from scratch.
  • Identify and evaluate equipment vendors.
  • Establish process metrics and goals.
  • Sustain and improve process yield.
  • Provide training and technical support to process operators.
  • Implement and support standardized processes.
  • Support delivery on BU's innovation objectives.
  • Share best practices with rest of process team.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
  • In depth knowledge in Battery Discharge, with experience of several discharge methods.

  • Qualified to work in high-voltage environments.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within high volume production in a related field.

  • Successful track record of leading process improvement projects in a production factory.

  • Proven successful leadership in a multi-culture environment.

  • Experience from scaling production in a fast-growing environment, for example in Semiconductor, Electrochemical or similar industry.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English written and verbal skills, Swedish is a plus.
  • Exceptionally good problem-solving skills.
  • An eye for details.
  • Highly organized and result-driven.
  • Proactive and goes beyond expectations.
  • Has a "can do" attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management.

This role is currently based in Stockholm/Västerås and will later involve frequent travels to Skellefteå.
