Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Software Engineer in Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) to join our passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The Software Engineer will be in charge of developing and configuring the manufacturing execution system for Northvolt. The solution will be required to scale Northvolt’s operations in Sweden and beyond.

The unit will primarily support the Västerås and Skellefteå factories to create a world class manufacturing operations solution.

You will be working intimately with the automation and IT team, factory operators and engineers. You will report to the MES and Logistics Systems Manager.

In general you are required to have entry to mid level experience in the field of systems engineering and have been involved in innovative and challenging manufacturing projects with high demands on IT.

You will be exposed to working with a manufacturing operations solution within batch and discrete process manufacturing.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the configuration, development and maintenance of efficient systems and processes.
  • Eliminate inefficiencies in a specific process for the benefit of everyone involved, from those participating in the system to the eventual stakeholders who will reap the benefits.
  • Documentation: providing specifications according to which the solution is defined, managed, and delivered.
  • Ensuring systems performance, testing, analysis, and retesting is done to a high standard.
  • Training and support.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A degree in Industrial Engineering/Computer Science/BSc or Relevant University Degree
  • 1+ year working experience in systems engineering
    • MES/MOM knowledge is beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge in any of the following is beneficial: C++, C#/.Net, WPF/XAML, WCF, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, WinForms, Web Services integration (REST, WSDL/SOAP, XML, JSON)
  • Knowledge of either database engines is beneficial (Oracle, MSSQL)
  • User Experience (UX) design/awareness nice to have for electronic work instructions or SOP's
  • Track record of successful system development achievement
  • Exposure to PLM (product lifecycle management) BOM's, BOP's, ERP systems for planning and order management is beneficial but not essential
  • Exposure to integration between PLM, ERP and MES is beneficial but not essential

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
