We are now looking for a Director of Product for Consumer Business who in close cooperation with our business units will be responsible for creating a world class platform for subscription based consumer business.

Consumer Business is the largest revenue stream in Schibsted News Media, accounting for roughly 3,9 billion NOK yearly. Over the last decade, digital subscriptions have grown from pretty much nothing to a billion NOK business. To enable further digital growth and to optimize the print subscription business, we are upgrading all our publisher to one common tech stack for user revenue. We call it User Revenue Suite.

User Revenue Suite covers the journey from an unknown user to a paying customer and consists today of six subteams: Identity, Conversion flow, Account experience, Marketing automation, Subscription & CRM and Payment.

Schibsted News Media is a matrix organization and Consumer Business Solutions is placed in the matrix between Consumer Business and Product & Tech. You’ll be a member of the Product management team and the Consumer Business Management team, reporting hard line to the CPO and dotted line to SVP of Consumer Business. The team is distributed across Stockholm, Oslo and Krakow.

We expect you to achieve the following:

In this role, you will enable leaders and teams to create a world-class platform for Schibsted to run its subscription business. You will work both with feature maturity of the platform and rolling it out to our publishers in Norway and Sweden. The work will involve all aspects of leadership; motivating teams, developing leaders, satisfying stakeholders and collaborating with business unit leaders. You will be the bridge between business and technology, realizing the business goals of the organization by delivering value through our products and teams.

Tasks include:

  • Together with the Director of Tech lead a team of 55 people consisting of software engineers, designers and product managers
  • Develop and manage 8 PMs (currently 5 in Stockholm, 2 in Oslo and 1 in Krakow).
  • You will work with your team to execute on a long-term roadmap to upgrade all Schibsted publishers to one common tech stack for user revenue
  • Work closely with brands and business units to realize business goals through product deliveries
  • Collaborate closely and force unity and alignment between business, product, UX, insights and tech
  • Increase platform maturity by scoping down through simplifying business rules, reuse components from current tech stacks and build new features on the new stack
  • Manage, develop and deliver in a matrix organization

Skills & Requirements

Who you are:

  • You thrive when developing great people, not just great products
  • Strong T-shaped leader with the desire and ability to make connections across disciplines
  • You have strong communication skills and demonstrate the importance of excellent stakeholder management
  • You have extensive experience in product management and understand how technology enables business
  • You have experience leading collaboration between product managers, engineers, and designers
  • You have real-world experience leading and scaling product across multiple business areas and/or brands
  • You have a passion for news and news role in society
  • You have an agile and collaborative way of working and you are outcome oriented
  • You speak and write English fluently and understand spoken Norwegian and Swedish
  • You work out of Stockholm or Oslo, travel will be required.
