Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Project Controller to join our stellar/bold/passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The person will be managing part activities related to Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå from a project controlling point of view. You will support and work closely with the project leader, ensure project delivery and support the build up of operations. You will be working intimately with the Project and operations team.

In general you have a long experience in the field and have been working as project/business/operations controller in manufacturing or project industries.
Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working in a fast paced organisation with large and complex projects experience from previous large investment projects is a plus.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will be working with Project Controlling for Northvolt Ett, partnering up with other functions, maintaining and improving the project plan and budget.
  • You will engage in detailed Project Controlling, connecting into the business model, striving to identify cost saving opportunities and efficiency gains.
  • You will define ways to measure and report on key milestones and other indicators.
  • You will create tools for management to measure their business
  • You will work closely with Vendors and Purchasing, following up on contracts, change orders and business activities and steer these into higher profitability, participating in procurements and contract writings and measure productivity, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • You will prepare the monthly reporting and other ad hoc reports.

  • You will work detailed follow up through monthly reports including detailed Project Budget, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow as well as operational KPIs

  • You will be part of regular project reviews for the team as well as towards the 1st and 2nd layer management.

  • You will help develop and ensure adherence to our processes.

The project controller will be based in Stockholm/Skellefteå and will report in to Business Control with dotted line reporting to relevant Program Managers and will work very closely with the overall finance team.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, MBA is a plus
  • 5+ years working experience preferably in manufacturing sector with previous proven experience in project control, design and implement operational and financial KPI’s, working closely with the whole P&L
  • A strong understanding of Financial systems & their impact on the Commercial P&L & KPIs together with a practical appreciation of how they can best be deployed by Commercial teams as an enabler.
  • Strong understanding of project control tracking, including follow up on change orders and contingency allocation.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional project teams.
  • Confident and able to build strong and challenging working relations with Commercial teams.
  • Curious, technically educated and with a strong business background
  • Must have worked in multi-cultural environment
  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry is a plus

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
