Solution Architect - MES/MOM

Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for a MES/MOM Solution Architect to join our passionate team. The scope of the job includes to execute and direct the development, design, implementation, testing and delivery of MES Solutions. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a team that aims to build world class solutions - and you will be a part of it from the very start of our journey. We believe that the ideal candidate has a strong ability to grasp and understand fundamental manufacturing processes in order to develop and execute the MES strategy.

You have the experience to quickly develop strong working relationships with the Automation, ERP and PLM team members. As Solution Architect MES/MOM you will participate in all phases of projects - from requirements definition through to plant startup in a customer facing role. You require the ability to collaborate with Project Managers and other technical resources to deliver a successful technical solution that meets the project’s requirements for quality, budget, and schedule. Travel to various project sites in Västerås, Skellefteå and Poland will be required for learning, requirements gathering, client meetings, engineering support and delivery as required.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Architect and implement a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and system integration solutions for an R&D lab environment with the ability to scale the solution into a large multi production line facility
  • Define functional requirements for an MES solution through client interviews and industrial documentation analysis
  • Develop detailed designs, implement and test MES solutions that meet client requirements
  • Develop all necessary documentation through collating relevant material from the industrial and process engineers
  • Provide project execution leadership and mentor fellow project members
  • Quickly learn new skills and technologies
  • Create and refine Business Process Maps and/or User Cases for configuration of execution workflows
  • Develop and improve processes, procedures and tools used in the execution of projects
  • Work with customers to develop project methodologies that will enhance their standards
  • Act as a liaison between the internal project team, internal management, and customer project teams and management
  • Understand the project scope to ensure successful project execution
  • Plan and organize the work of a project team, develop the implementation strategies for projects, act as a mentor for individuals within the group, and resolve issues within project teams
  • Identify change orders and justify changes to Project Management; resolve issues and establish priorities between projects
  • Proactively develop customer relationships; anticipate and provide solutions to customer needs giving high priority to customer satisfaction

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree with minimum of 5 years overall experience, with minimum of 4 years MES project experience.
  • Deployment experience with plant floor/Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) solutions
  • Experience with discrete and batch process manufacturing
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to quickly establish good working relationships with others from all levels
  • Experience working with customers to create user requirement.
  • ERP, PLM and Quality Systems integration preferred
  • Have experience in PLC and SCADA automation

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
