Maintenance Manager

We are now looking for a Maintenance manager to join our Manufacturing team in Västerås. You will get the unique opportunity to be part of installation, commissioning and later on the maintenance of Northvolt Labs.

When old technology is phased out and overtaken by electrification in the coming years, batteries are going to become the differentiating factor. With increasing technology differentiation and growth of R&D efforts from sophisticated customers, especially in the automotive industry, our strategy with Northvolt Labs in Västerås is to provide a facility for them to develop their own design, then test, industrialize and qualify it, before taking it to large-scale production. Northvolt Labs is a cutting-edge demonstration line and R&D center that will enable fully process representative manufacturing and allow a faster and more efficient time to market for unique formulations, cell formats and technology.

As a Maintenance Manager you proactively set actions according to Northvolt values, routines, budget, management system and plan. A safe operation production line is our highest priority. This role will work closely with Site Manager, Shift Leaders, Production Manager, Safety, Quality, Environment, Maintenance and Process teams. You will get the unique opportunity to be a part of building the first manufacturing team at Northvolt. As Maintenance Manager at Northvolt in Västerås you’ll be a part of a passionate, skilled and diverse team with high ambitions.

Main tasks

  • Safe operations with daily and monthly follow up on reporting and improvement actions. Ensure proactive behavior and empower a positive safety culture on site with employees and contractors.
  • Close co-operation with project-, process-, purchasing-, automation- and operations in order to increase efficiency.
  • Optimize output from manufacturing with efficient organization, investments, quality and availability improvements.
  • Manage maintenance operations to ensure the highest level of efficiency without disruption to the business.
  • Be a role model in creating an engaging and including working environment with purpose driven actions.
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Budget- and employee responsibility. Coach, mentor, train and develop maintenance employees to meet current and future business requirements.

Skills & Requirements

  • > 5 years of experience from Manager position in process industry and Swedish legislation.
  • > 10 years of experience working with maintenance and/or production from similar industry (batteries, pulp- and paper, chemicals, medicals, microelectronics, food, energy)
  • Engineering degree from university.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven experience from working with safety behavior and safety improvements in process industry a must.
  • Experience of scale up of manufacturing with installation of equipment, piping, pumps, valves, control tools,chemicals, electronics and chemicals. Installation and Start-up experience of process equipment.
  • Strong background from technical culture and proven multicultural leadership.
  • A role model in engagement, inclusion and developing talents. It is essential that you are able to work independently and in team work with good cooperation skills helping others and Northvolt become successful.
  • English and Swedish in oral and written, as we are working in an international organization and it’s required that you can talk and write with employees of Northvolt, suppliers, authorities, customers, owners and visitors.
  • Experience from, and motivated to, setting up work methods and procedures from scratch. Lock Tag Try routines, permit routines, reporting, SOP:s, contracts.
  • High work ethic, multi-tasker, strong analytical ability and attention to details, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
