Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Senior Project Buyer for capex to join our passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The Senior Project Buyer Capex will play a key role in maintaining the suppliers' relationship, negotiate capex contracts playing a key role in Northvolt's cross functional team.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Able to build up and maintain business relationship with dedicated supplier(s), able to self-manage operational level with supplier with focus on cost, delivery and quality and act as a one-voice towards suppliers.
  • Will manage CAPEX projects within the purchasing function for Northvolt one
  • Will be responsible to negotiate the supplier contracts, driving cost down and validate offers and proposals.

Skills & Requirements


  • A degree in Engineering/Economics, MSc or MBA/Relevant University Degree.
  • Strong project management fundamentals with at least 6 years experience as Capex Project Manager and/or Project Purchasing Manager in the purchasing function from the construction or automotive industry, from chemical or Oil and Gas Industry, or from utilities companies.
  • At least 5 years of negotiation experience from both commercial (contracts, business awarding) and technical purchasing, acting as a negotiation leader, proved ability to negotiate complex contracts, create negotiation designs and gaming and execute them in the negotiation. Experienced from difficult bi-lateral & multi-cultural business relationship is a clear plus.
  • Advanced skills in cost structure analysis (cost-driver identification, Value Stream mapping ) & and ability to create bottom-up shadow calculations
  • Very good team player, able to influence and convince other team members and project stakeholders.
  • Potential evolution for this role is Purchasing management and/ purchasing Project manager

  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
