Communications Manager

We are looking for a passionate storyteller, content creator and relationship builder. As External Communications Manager at Scandic Group, you’ll work to build trust and relevance for Scandic as a company and support our five international markets in driving, strengthening and protecting the Scandic brand through bold and proactive communication.

You’ll report to the Communication Director at Scandic Hotels Group and be part of a team of three with responsibility for developing Scandic’s internal and external communication through PR materials, strategies and tools for Scandic’s local markets. You’ll also handle external communication for our prioritized projects by creating integrated communication plans together with local managers and other key functions within the company. Additionally, you will manage Scandic’s relationships with PR agencies and identify, package and spread great stories from across the organization.

Specifically, this means:

  • Creating and executing annual PR and communication plans aligned with Scandic’s overall strategy
  • Seeking and developing PR opportunities across the organization
  • Assisting and/or acting as project leader for various pan-European marketing/PR projects
  • Working strategically to build, support and train spokespersons within the organization
  • Building strong relationships/networks with media, influencers and journalists on the industry and national levels
  • Monitoring and analyzing media coverage of Scandic and the hospitality industry
  • Cooperating with key functions within the organization to protect the brand from business-disruptive criticism
  • Acting on possibilities and identifying potential PR stories for Scandic on a pan-Nordic level
  • Developing/writing and publishing press releases, articles and other material in line with Scandic’s overall strategy
  • Arranging photo sessions and video recordings
  • Optimizing existing ways of working and exploiting new working methodologies within the field of communication and PR

Skills & Requirements

Experiences you bring and share with us

You’re goal-oriented with a passion for building brands, a doer in tune with the news agenda and quick in mind and action. You master the full communications toolbox including public relations, influencers and social media. You are humble and have a collaborative mindset and you’re used to putting the team first. You have excellent written and oral communication skills and a hands-on approach. As a structured project manager, you are used to taking a business perspective on communications to proactively help shape the business agenda. An international environment is nothing new for you and you’re used to managing different types of internal and external stakeholders.

A bit about you – you have:

• 2-6 years’ relevant working experience from communication roles
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience from working in a multinational and multi-site environment matrix organization
• A university degree or the equivalent in marketing and communications or journalism
• Effortless communication skills in Swedish and English
• Business acumen and strong analytical skills
• The ability to convey a message and engage others by turning strategy into action
• A creative, innovative and fast mind
• Solid communication skills and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust, inspire and motivate groups and communicate with people from all levels of the company as well as external stakeholders
