Financial Analyst

General Summary

Bonnier Books UK is looking for a finance analyst to join the trade business. The finance analyst will support the head of commercial affairs and provide pro-active financial, commercial and business advisory reporting and analysis to the management team.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • In-depth analysis of financial and commercial data for the business and its divisions and imprints; reviewing sales, pricing and costing information.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of eBook sales and audiobook sales, as well as overall UK and international sales.
  • Report on margin and profitability by customer, title and territory.
  • Produce accurate financial reports during the month end processes.
  • Support the accounts team during the month end process with stock and provision analysis.
  • Develop key reports and dashboards, and present accurate financial data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Prepare meaningful reports to all key stakeholders as well as departmental heads.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages.
  • Assist with the acquisition P&L process.
  • Track advance and origination spend and compare to budget and forecast.
  • Analyse and maintain marketing expense tracker.
  • Assist in the development of the divisions annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts.
  • Collaboration with operations and royalties on data gathering and the royalty run process.
  • Assist with cost tracking and processing.
  • Any other ad-hoc financial analysis as required.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Communication skills when writing and speaking.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a changing environment.
  • Able to consistently meet strict deadlines and produce high quality information.
  • Organisation skills.
  • Proactive attitude towards improving processes.
  • Advanced Excel experience (e.g. SUMIF, INDEX/MATCH, etc.) with the ability to create clear templates for non-finance staff.
  • Knowledge of other MS Office products such as Teams, OneNote, PowerBI and SharePoint.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an analyst role.
  • Experience using Biblio and Datawarehouse (SAP business objects) is beneficial but not essential.
