Who we are?
Schibsted Media Group is an international company that comprises all of Schibsted’s media businesses, including brands such as VG, Aftonbladet, Aftenposten, Svenska Dagbladet, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Fædrelandsvennen, and seven local newspapers.
Our team manages Create & Discover, which is the CMS that powers newsrooms across Schibsted, and is used daily by editors and journalists. If you have ever read online news in Norway or Sweden, you are likely to have read one or more articles that have been produced and published through Create & Discover. We are proud to develop software that is not only important to Schibsted, but also to society - by enabling higher quality journalism through world-class tooling.
Who you are?
We are looking for a passionate frontend developer who wants to join our mission to build the world’s best journalistic tools, and who sees importance in journalism for driving society forward.
We are looking for someone who can bring ideas to the team and can contribute to our mission of allowing journalists to be journalists.
The main driving factor behind the tasks we take on, is the needs of Schibsted’s newsrooms. We cooperate with big names such as Aftenposten, VG and Aftonbladet, but also with smaller newsrooms. They have needs that may cover topics such as enabling new ways to present stories, getting better assistance creating content, and future planning of content.
The application was initially built over 7 years ago, and is undergoing a modernization both in terms of technology and UI. The original code base is in Backbone, but we have worked hard to modernize parts of it already, and create a good foundation so that new features can be written in React + TypeScript. And in the process, we have ensured a top-notch developer experience where anything new is not to be held back by legacy.
