Electric power will replace the combustion engine in automotive and industrial applications. The electricity grid needs energy storage to handle higher power and the intermittent nature of sustainable energy. The corded and already cordless portable appliances have an ever-increasing need for better and cheaper batteries too.

The market for battery electric products is expanding rapidly and optimized products and solutions will be a crucial part of the transition to a sustainable future. An all new industry is in the making and the number of battery electric products in the field will grow exponentially in the decades ahead. These products will be connected and have the ability to be monitored and updated for safety, service, performance warranties and other continuous improvements as well as business model innovations. We are looking for a Director of Business Development - After Market to articulate and drive these offerings and services.

You, and the team you build, will work with all our customers across all market segments. You will collaborate with our customer’s business strategy, engineering and after market teams to deeply understand their requirements, needs and opportunities.

Internally you will align these needs and opportunities with our market segment, battery strategy, and battery data specialists, as well as our battery systems and other central teams to translate these into compelling product and service offerings,

In addition to this you will be involved in market activities, attend and speak at customerand industry meetings and conferences,drive internal forums and more,in order to continuously evaluate and further enhance our products and services.

The role contributes to an integral part of Northvolt’sstrategy and offerings. It requires solid leadership skills, deep commercial as well as robust technicalunderstanding and the ability to set and communicate requirements, needs and opportunities to our engineering departmentsand management team.

You will part of the Business Development Management Team and report to our Chief Business Development Officer.

You will be based in Stockholm, Sweden and travel on a regular basis to our customers throughout Europe and occasionally beyond.

Skills & Requirements

  • MSc Engineering
  • 10 years of experience from after-market business and operations
  • Experience from industrial hardware or software engineering
  • Successful history of working with mid and senior level technical teams, purchasing and management
  • Strong leadership skills with experience from growing and developing a team as
  • well as proven track record of successfully developing team members, support their growth and let them excel
  • Knowledge of battery industry and technology is desirable
  • Startup and growth company experience is a major advantage
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills in both technical and business environments (fluency in Swedish and/or German is a plus)
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressure multi-cultural environment
  • Thrive working within tight deadlines and excellent at time management
  • Have plenty of grit, a can-do attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, a great eye for quality, a sense of humor and a curious mind

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
