Manufacturers of portable products and equipment are the most experienced users of Li-Ion batteries. Silent, sustainable and packed with power, this market will keep growing, adding everything that’s still powered with a cord or small combustion engine. Northvolt is now looking for a Customer Project Manager responsible for a major customer li-ion cell development for the world’s greenest battery cell. Are you interested in helping companies within the portable market segment to become more sustainable?

We believe that you have a thorough understanding of customer relations and developing key accounts, project management and product development. As Customer Project Manager you will be an integral part in the manufacturing, testing and qualification of new generation of Li-ion battery cells. By leading and supporting a project team you will interact closely our customers as well as with internal stakeholders such as R&D, cell design, business development, quality, industrialization, supply-chain and manufacturing to secure a complete project delivery. Leading a successful iterative development work towards the highest yield rate for the production and optimization of material characteristics is the optimal goal for the battery cell development.

We believe that you have a genuine technical interest and strong experience either as Key Account Manager and/or in managing customer development projects involving technical, timing and financial elements. As a person you are curious, structured, love to execute plans and meet ambitious targets. Communication skills, the ability to guide the team in time management and the attitude to foster a productive and passionate culture are key success factors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project management of several customer cell project
  • Plan, organize, direct and follow up on project and customer related activities
  • Ensure delivery of the project activities and develop and maintain a great relation with the customer
  • Lead the project team towards the project goals
  • Help the project team to perform and innovate
  • Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between customers and Northvolt's internal stakeholders

You will be a part of the Business Development team and report to our Director of Business Development – Portable.

You will be based in Stockholm, Sweden and travel on a regular basis to our customers throughout Europe and occasionally beyond.

Skills & Requirements


  • MSc degree within relevant field or comparable work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a key account/project/program/product manager role
  • Proven results in meeting customer requirements and expectations
  • Experience from defining and executing a project using project management techniques, PMP Certification is considered a merit but not a requirement
  • Experience from battery industry is a plus
  • Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously
  • Experience from start-up environment is a plus

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English and German written and oral skills. Korean, Japanese or Swedish is a plus!
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressure multi-cultural environment
  • Thrive on working with tight deadlines and excellent at time management

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
