Do you want to explore what’s next in technology and turn it into real business value?

At Gard, you’ll have room to explore new technologies, test ideas and learn through experimentation. With exciting developments and a technology toolbox full of potential, you’ll help shape how we put new possibilities to practical use.

We’re looking for a Solution Architect who enjoys understanding business needs and turning them into practical technology solutions. Working with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll combine hands-on exploration with architectural thinking to identify opportunities, evaluate options and guide solutions that support our business goals. The role combines a solid understanding of how systems work under the hood with curiosity about how new technologies can support Gard’s future needs and contribute to shaping our longer-term architectural direction.

This is a collaborative role that brings together business understanding, architectural thinking and clear communication. You’ll stay informed about emerging technologies, assess their relevance to our market, and help colleagues understand the options and trade-offs behind architectural choices.

What you’ll do

You’ll contribute to architecture forums where colleagues discuss architecture topics, explore alternatives and agree on approaches together. Through these conversations, you’ll help ensure that new systems align with our enterprise architecture and guardrails.

Working with stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll clarify business needs, explain design decisions and connect technical solutions to business goals. You’ll coordinate with Compliance and Legal, and work closely with vendors, Product Owners and Change Managers to advise on, plan and execute releases.

You’ll plan integrations together with developers and contribute fresh ideas for improving or automating processes. Understanding, documenting and visualising complex business processes will help you make architectural choices clear and support effective collaboration.

What you’ll bring

Finding the right person matters more to us than ticking every box. The experience and strengths below will help you succeed in the role, but we encourage you to apply if it interests you, even if you don’t meet every point.

  • Experience designing and maintaining the architecture of complex software systems, including their structure, components, modules, interfaces and technologies, and managing architecture throughout its lifecycle.
  • A commitment to software quality, using best practices, design patterns and coding standards to support reliable, maintainable systems.
  • The ability to gather requirements, explain design decisions and collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with evaluating and integrating emerging software technologies, and a solid understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, their architectural implications and their integration into enterprise systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a continuous-improvement mindset, and the ability to understand, document, visualise and communicate complex business processes.
  • Good English communication skills and the ability to prioritise and work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • A developer background is preferred but is not a requirement.
  • Experience designing APIs and integrations across custom-built applications, SaaS platforms and data services would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of how to integrate AI capabilities and agents into enterprise solutions, with appropriate data access, governance and human oversight.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies, particularly .NET, Azure and Microsoft Foundry, would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, MuleSoft or Salesforce would be an added bonus, but is not expected.

What we offer

  • Strong pension and insurance benefits
  • The stability of a long-term, highly respected employer, combined with a dynamic and fast-moving tech environment
  • A collaborative, in‑house environment where technology is central to the business
  • A focus on work-life balance and sustainable ways of working
  • Access to company cabins and apartments, plus support for workout and health initiatives
  • An open and social culture with regular Gard events and knowledge sharing
  • Excellent opportunities for professional growth, learning, and international collaboration
