KICKS is looking for a Lead Data Scientist

Kicks is the Nordic’s leading beauty omni-retailer, with 250 stores, 2,5M members, and with the largest e-commerce and multi-channel presence in the market. We are now searching for a Lead Data Scientist to join the growing Data & Analytics team. The team is responsible for developing and exposing analytics products throughout the organization and reports directly to the CEO.

Kicks has recently completed a major digital transformation, which has made huge volumes and high-quality data readily available (millions of transactions every day). We are now further expanding our Machine Learning objectives, and are working on a broad number of use cases, ranging from customer analytics, CRM, and online, to category/assortment and logistics optimization to further expand our position in the market. As we are now significantly stepping up our ambitions on analytics we are recruiting more data scientists, data engineers and data translators. The Lead Data Scientist role will be instrumental in spearheading and taking ownership of our machine learning use cases and implementations.

In parallel to the long list of use cases we are also building out our advanced analytics stack, based on various Azure cloud components, such as Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake and other related Azure cloud and analytics technologies.

As the Lead Data Scientist at Kicks, your mission is on one hand to spearhead how we apply machine learning and turning analytics into actions, while also being quite hands on in turning the vast amounts of our data into actionable insights that solve some of our business' most complex problems. You will develop an understanding of business obstacles, create solutions based on advanced analytics and draw implications and hypothesis for model development. You will get the opportunity to combine, explore and draw insights from large and complex data assets from different parts of the business. You will also have the opportunity to work with the latest data science tools and technologies, building explorative, predictive- and prescriptive models, utilizing a broad range of machine learning techniques.

Your background as a Data Scientist

  • 4+ years’ of data science and machine learning experience
  • Advanced Degree in a field linked to computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or related areas
  • Strong abilities in the analytics development process from exploring the potential of a raw data set, to evaluate, pilot and build models, including scaling and operationalization of models.
  • Experience from agile development methodologies and working closely with data engineers as well as business stakeholders in a cross functional set up.
  • Strong ability to handle detailed analysis, work independently and in a structured way
  • Experience with languages like Python, R, SQL on a daily basis, in a notebook context
  • Familiar with common machine learning toolboxes and environments (e.g. Pandas, Scikit-learn).
  • It is meriting with experience and understanding of Devops, ETL, data quality, database modeling and data warehousing principles
