Head of Systems

The Head of Systems is responsible for leading a team to maintain and further develop the company’s systems and infrastructure. You and your team will be collaborating closely with other key technology departments such as pipeline and R&D to make sure the infrastructure and technology supports the ever increasing requirements for high end visual effects.

Task and responsibilities

This role includes but are not limited to the following:

  • Own the delivery of all steady-state IT systems. Be responsible for the maintenance and operations of all systems.
  • Lead a team and provide technical management oversight, assign work across the team, and mentor team members.
  • Follow best practices to adhere to enterprise architectures always with an eye to scalability beyond the current requirements.
  • Ensure that all systems are deployed with accurate operational documentation.
  • Maintenance of infrastructure and process documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting tools are in place.
  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating system issues.
  • Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks where possible.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Pipeline team to resolve technical problems.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, evaluating and recommending new solutions.

Required skills

  • Deep knowledge of Linux systems administration and management.
  • Deep knowledge of large-scale storage solutions such as Isilon, GPFS, Gluster.
  • Deep knowledge of networking, security and scalability.
  • Prior experience in datacenter management and planning.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading technical teams and of collaborating across departments.
  • High level of problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Enthusiastic, organized and confident.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
