Job Description

Would you like to develop your skills in sheet metal production and machinery operation and have a passion for delivering safe, accurate, and high‑quality work?

Then you might be the person we are looking for! Take on the role as Production Operative, relief Spiral Machine Operator and report to our Production & Compliance Manager supporting KPI achievement across the team.

Your primary tasks will be

  • Operate and maintain sheet metal machinery, including the Spiral Forming Machine, to meet production targets while ensuring high product quality.
  • Carry out pre‑use checks, routine cleaning, and basic maintenance, accurately logging all activities.
  • Produce high‑quality duct fittings, spirally wound tubes, and other components, inspecting for defects and reporting issues promptly.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete all production documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain strong Health & Safety practices, including using correct PPE, machine guards, safe handling techniques, and keeping the work area clean and organised.
  • Monitor raw materials and finished stock, maintain adequate levels, and liaise with Sales and the Assistant Production Manager to support production needs.
  • Assist with training new or relief staff on machinery operation, safety, and production processes.
  • Operating FLT when required

Are you our new colleague?

You have a deep knowledge of sheet metal work, production processes, or manufacturing machinery. You have excellent understanding of safe machine use, PPE requirements, and Health & Safety practices. You have experience of working in a sheet metal or production environment, ideally with spiral‑forming machinery or similar equipment.

As a person, you are safety‑conscious and detail‑oriented. You are also technically capable, confident in operating and maintaining equipment, and able to troubleshoot minor issues. In your way of working, you are reliable, organised, and committed to maintaining neatness and order in your workspace.

What you bring

  • Experience in sheet metal production or a similar manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate and maintain machinery, including performing inspections and routine maintenance
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness and understanding of PPE and safe handling procedures
  • Accurate record‑keeping skills for production logs and maintenance documentation
  • Willingness to support team members and participate in ongoing training
  • FLT experience - however, we can train and develop you

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am - 1:30pm
  • Salary: £26,477.57 + £500 uplift on completion of Spiral training
