Senior UX Designer — AI/UX

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior UX Designer to join a cross-functional team responsible for Helix, our design system, and the user experience across three SaaS products: Amino, Sonar, and Proline.

This role covers the full range of UX practice. You will take on product design work alongside the team and bring a specialized focus on AI/UX, defining how our products communicate and behave when artificial intelligence is involved.

AI/UX is your area of depth, not your only responsibility.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Product Design

  • Own UX design work across Amino, Sonar, and Proline: flows, wireframes, interaction specs, and design reviews
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define and validate interaction decisions
  • Participate in design critiques and contribute to design quality across the team
  • Plan and support usability testing, prototype validation, and design feedback sessions to identify friction, validate assumptions, and improve product decisions

AI/UX

  • Design interaction patterns for human-AI workflows: trust signals, confidence indicators, uncertainty communication, and progressive disclosure of AI reasoning
  • Extend Helix with AI-specific components covering processing states, error handling, feedback loops, and explainability surfaces
  • Partner with product and engineering teams integrating AI features to establish UX guardrails and reusable patterns
  • Review AI-driven features across products and identify where the experience breaks down or erodes user trust
  • Track emerging AI UX research and translate relevant findings into practical patterns for the team

Skills & Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of UX design experience with a strong generalist foundation; you can own a feature end to end
  • Demonstrated work on products that include AI or ML components
  • Solid grasp of human-AI interaction principles: communicating model behavior, failure modes, and uncertainty to non-technical users
  • Experience designing for error states, edge cases, and degraded-mode experiences in systems with AI
  • Experience designing within or contributing to a design system
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English

Preferred

  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts at a product level; enough to have a substantive conversation with a data scientist or ML engineer
  • Experience with conversational UI, co-pilot patterns, or AI-assisted workflows
  • Exposure to explainable AI principles and how they surface in product design
  • Experience in SaaS or enterprise software environments
  • Understanding of how design tokens and component APIs support scalable pattern libraries

Differentiators

  • Portfolio work that specifically addresses trust, uncertainty, or error communication in AI products
  • Evidence of influence on how a product team adopted AI UX standards or patterns, not just individual screen execution
  • Familiarity with established AI UX guidelines from Nielsen Norman, Google PAIR, Microsoft HAX Toolkit, or similar sources

Skills

  • Critical thinking skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions and evaluate trade-offs across user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Deep empathy for users, with the ability to understand their context, constraints, frustrations, and goals before jumping into solutions
