Fjellheisen is Northern Norway's largest tourist attraction and one of Tromsø's most iconic landmarks. In April 2027 we open a spectacular new 3,000 m² building — almost seven times the size of today's — with a stunning restaurant, cocktail bar, café, and four large event spaces for meetings, parties and banquets, plus open communal areas with a view that takes your breath away.

We are building a house that will be filled with life, laughter and good memories — and we want you on the team.

About the role

As Café Manager, you take on a hands-on, operational role at the new Fjellheisen Panorama, where great service and guest care always come first. Your job is to make sure everything is set up for guests to have the best possible experience.

The planning work starts now, and your job will be to help shape simple, practical routines that keep the café running smoothly. You report to the Restaurant Manager.

Your responsibilities

  • Making sure guests always meet friendly, attentive service and are well looked after
  • Facilitating smooth service — having the café well prepared, stocked and ready before opening
  • Ordering and stock management
  • Shift scheduling and day-to-day follow-up of your team members
  • Tidying and resetting the café after service, so it is always guest-ready
  • Close collaboration with the Restaurant Manager

We are looking for someone who

  • Is genuinely passionate about service and guest care
  • Has a high working capacity — it can be hectic at times
  • Is practical and hands-on — happy to prepare for service and tidy up afterward
  • Thrives in a host role and creates a warm atmosphere for guests
  • Has some experience from café, restaurant or F&B operations
  • Relevant education will be valued
  • Is structured and self-driven, comfortable with the full range of practical, day-to-day tasks
  • Is fluent in English; Norwegian or other languages are a plus

Why join us?

  • A rare opportunity to help build something from the ground up
  • A workplace at altitude, with a panoramic view over Tromsø
  • An exciting working day with guests and colleagues from all over the world
  • Competitive terms
  • Fixed salary
  • Part of Norwegian Travel, a group with several restaurants and companies at various destinations, offering good development opportunities and a strong community across departments and team

If you want to help create magical moments on top of Tromsø, we would like to hear from you.

Starting date: 1. November or by agreement

About Fjellheisen

Fjellheisen cable car runs from Solliveien in Tromsdalen to the Storsteinen mountain plateau. The lower station is located on the Tromsø mainland, 50 metres above sea level, while the upper station, Fjellstua, sits at 421 metres. The journey to the top takes just four minutes.

Fjellheisen is Tromsø’s most popular tourist attraction. From the summit, visitors can enjoy spectacular panoramic views across Tromsø and an expansive landscape of islands, fjords, mountains and open sea. In the opposite direction stands the majestic Tromsdalstinden, rising 1,238 metres above sea level.

As Executive Head Chef, this extraordinary setting will be your workplace, with panoramic views of Tromsø, the midnight sun in summer and the Northern Lights in winter.
