Category Expert, Yard, Balcony & Garden (Parental Leave Substitute)

Dollarstore is one of Sweden’s leading discount retailers and we continue to grow. With over 140 stores across Sweden and Denmark, we are part of Tokmanni Group, listed on the Finnish stock exchange.

With a vision to create a more fun and richer everyday life for everyone, we are around 6,000 dedicated colleagues across the Nordics, working every day to democratize the joy of shopping. That mission is what drives us forward.

As Tokmanni Group continues its journey towards a more integrated Nordic Buying & Sourcing organisation, we are looking for a Category Expert, Yard, Balcony & Garden to join our team at Dollarstore headquarters in Kista, Sweden.

This category includes product areas such as flowers, soils, fertilizers, seeds, flowerpots, solar lights, garden furniture, garden and winter tools, garden machinery, BBQ grills and accessories, and pest control.

In this role, you will support category development and commercial performance across the Nordic markets. Working closely with Category Managers, suppliers and local stakeholders, you will help build competitive assortments, support pricing activities, analyse performance and ensure that our product offering meets local customer needs.

You will play an important role in connecting the Group category organisation with the local market, bringing customer and market insights into category decisions while supporting the execution of category strategies.

Main responsibilities

  • Support category planning and execution together with Nordic Category Managers.
  • Contribute to assortment development and local market adaptation.
  • Participate in supplier collaboration and follow-up.
  • Support pricing and campaign activities.
  • Analyse sales performance, trends and market developments.
  • Monitor inventory performance, product availability and product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with stores, marketing, supply chain and other key stakeholders.

What do we expect from you?

  • Commercial or technical education.
  • Experience in retail, preferably within garden-related product categories.
  • Understanding of purchasing, category management and private label products.
  • Interest in developing assortments, analysing performance and building commercially successful product categories.
  • Understanding of pricing, inventory management, product availability and product lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders in an international environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a goal-oriented way.
  • Good IT and systems skills.
  • Ability to work according to Tokmanni Group's values and ways of working.
  • Fluent communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Experience in discount retail or garden-related retail is considered an advantage.

What we offer

  • A key role in one of the Nordic region's leading discount retail groups.
  • The opportunity to influence category development and commercial success.
  • Close collaboration with colleagues across the Nordic organisation.
  • An international working environment with committed and professional colleagues.
  • Opportunities for learning, development and career growth within Tokmanni Group.
  • A unique opportunity to work in Tokmanni Group’s Buying & Sourcing organisation while being part of Dollarstore’s local team in Sweden.
  • Benefits such as staff discount, private health insurance, wellness allowance and access to our newly renovated in-house gym.
