Schibsted & Vend Polska is a joint venture between two leading Nordic entities - a major media house, Schibsted, and a dynamic marketplace leader, Vend. With over 300 software engineers in Kraków and Gdańsk, we provide high-quality technological solutions that support the operations and innovations of both parent companies.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM

We’re building and evolving an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that provides a secure, scalable and reliable foundation for Schibsted.

The goal is straightforward, even if the engineering behind it isn’t: enable application workloads to run consistently across environments while reducing the operational overhead for product teams.

The platform covers Kubernetes, AWS cloud infrastructure, networking, automation, reliability, security, developer experience and FinOps. A big part of our work is turning that infrastructure complexity into capabilities that are simple and practical for developers to use.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Mid Platform Engineer, you’ll work across different layers of the platform and help shape both how it operates and how developers interact with it.

You won’t just maintain infrastructure. You’ll automate it, improve it and help turn it into reusable, self-service capabilities that allow product teams to spend less time thinking about the underlying platform and more time building great products.

You’ll:

• Build and evolve our Kubernetes platform, working with cluster lifecycle, availability, scalability, workload scheduling and capacity management.
• Develop our AWS cloud and networking foundations, including cloud infrastructure, account structures, network topology, cluster networking, service-to-service connectivity and edge integrations.
• Automate infrastructure and workflows using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, reducing manual work and creating consistent, repeatable ways of working.
• Strengthen reliability and observability through monitoring, logging and alerting, while participating in on-call and incident response. What we learn from incidents should translate into lasting platform improvements.
• Embed security into the platform, including cluster hardening, identity integration and infrastructure-level policy enforcement.
• Improve developer experience by building self-service capabilities, sensible defaults and platform tooling that reduce friction and cognitive load.
• Improve infrastructure cost efficiency by increasing cloud cost visibility and allocation and optimising compute, storage and network usage.

You’ll work closely with architects, developers and other stakeholders across Schibsted, sharing knowledge and making technical decisions together as the platform evolves.

ABOUT YOU

You enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems, but you also care about making that complexity easier for the people using the platform.

You have:

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container-based platforms.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, including compute and networking.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and automated delivery workflows.
• Experience with observability, including monitoring, logging and alerting.
• Understanding of reliability engineering and how to learn from incidents.
• Awareness of infrastructure and Kubernetes security practices.
• An analytical approach to troubleshooting and solving technical problems.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.

It’s great if you also have:

• Experience with AWS and EKS.
• Hands-on knowledge of Terraform and Atlantis.
• Experience with Argo CD and GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry (OTel).
• Experience with capacity or performance optimisation.
• Exposure to FinOps, cloud cost visibility or cloud cost optimisation.

You don’t need to tick every box. We’re interested in what you already know, how you approach unfamiliar problems and your ability to learn and grow.

We work in a hybrid model in Kraków, combining face-to-face collaboration in our office with the flexibility of remote work.
