Mainframe Application Support Lead

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Mainframe Application Support Lead is responsible for leading the support and maintenance of business-critical mainframe applications. The role oversees production support, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and application stability across technologies including COBOL, JCL, Natural, ADABAS, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and batch processing environments. The individual ensures timely resolution of application issues, minimizes business impact, and drives continuous improvement in application support services.

Key Responsibilities:

·Lead the day-to-day support and maintenance of mainframe applications in production environments.

·Manage application incidents, service requests, problem tickets, and production support activities.

·Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting issues involving COBOL, JCL, Natural, ADABAS, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and batch processing.

·Analyze application failures, performance issues, abends, and data-related problems and drive resolution.

·Coordinate with business users, developers, infrastructure teams, and operations teams to resolve production issues.

·Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.

·Monitor application health, batch processing, transaction performance, and service availability.

·Support application deployments, releases, and change implementations while ensuring minimal business disruption.

·Review and optimize application performance, batch schedules, database access, and resource utilization.

·Ensure adherence to SLA commitments, operational procedures, and support standards.

·Maintain application support documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge repositories.

·Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
