Power BI Analyst
This is located in South Bend, IN 46601
The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with hands-on experience in Power BI, SQL, data modeling, and reporting automation. This person should be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and translating complex data into clear, actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Reporting
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using business intelligence platforms, preferably Power BI
Partner with business leaders and internal teams to gather, document, and translate reporting requirements into scalable BI solutions
Build reporting solutions that support users at multiple levels, from individual contributors to executive leadership
Translate complex data findings into executive-level insights, recommendations, and decision-support materials
Present analytics outcomes directly to leadership and business stakeholders

Data Modeling, Governance & Standards
Own the design and ongoing evolution of enterprise BI data models, semantic layers, and KPI definitions
Define and maintain BI standards, naming conventions, performance optimization practices, and governance controls
Support consistent KPI definitions and reporting logic across departments
Serve as a steward of sensitive business data, ensuring proper handling, storage, and distribution of confidential internal and external datasets

Data Warehousing & Data Quality
Partner with IT teams on data warehouse architecture, optimization, and ongoing enhancement
Acquire data from internal and external sources and support the integration of that data into enterprise reporting environments
Monitor data quality and integrity, working with stakeholders to identify and resolve discrepancies
Perform data profiling to validate business requirements, test assumptions, and identify data or process gaps

AI, Automation & Advanced Analytics
Leverage embedded AI and machine learning capabilities within BI tools to support predictive insights, anomaly detection, automated alerts, and natural language query functionality
Use Generative AI tools to accelerate SQL query development, scripting, documentation, and analytics workflows
Evaluate and recommend new BI tools, features, and analytics capabilities that improve reporting efficiency and business outcomes

Enablement & Continuous Improvement
Serve as a subject-matter expert for Power BI, SQL, analytics best practices, and reporting standards
Lead training initiatives to improve analytics maturity across business teams
Share best practices and insights that promote a culture of continuous improvement
Participate in special projects and support additional data or reporting initiatives as needed

Required Qualifications
Experience
2+ years of experience delivering business intelligence solutions using the Microsoft BI stack
2+ years of experience writing, maintaining, and debugging SQL queries
Experience designing dashboards, reports, KPIs, and data models for business users
Education
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
Equivalent professional experience may be considered

Technical Skills
Proficiency with business intelligence and visualization tools, preferably Power BI
Strong SQL skills, including querying, troubleshooting, and data validation
Experience working with large-scale public, private, or proprietary datasets
Ability to analyze data sources and business requirements to build accurate enterprise data models and KPIs
Experience using Generative AI tools to support SQL development, scripting, and technical documentation
Cloud architecture or cloud administration experience is a plus

Ability to explain complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable collaborating with executive leaders, business teams, IT, and external stakeholders

Professional, collaborative, and service-oriented approach

Work Environment
Standard office environment
Role may require extended periods of sitting and working at a computer
Uses standard business technology, including computer equipment, office phone, and mobile device
