Job Description

As Gard continues to experience significant growth across Asia, we are seeking a dedicated Loss Prevention Executive or Senior Loss Prevention Executive to join our team in either Hong Kong or Singapore.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and advancing our ‘Safer with Gard’ strategy. The final seniority of the appointment will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and expertise.

Our Loss Prevention department is at the heart of our service philosophy, providing essential technical guidance, data-driven risk insights, and specialized expertise through industry-leading seminars and publications. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact on maritime safety.

The role involves regional travel, allowing you to engage directly with our clients and stakeholders across the Asian market.

Key requirements

• Maritime expertise: Relevant industry experience, preferably with a marine engineering or equivalent technical background. Experience with gas carriers or dual-fuel vessels is a distinct advantage.

• Analytical rigor: A good level of data literacy, with the ability to analyze complex information, identify trends and risk patterns, and apply an evidence-based approach to decision-making and risk management.

• Client-focused: A service-minded approach with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. A high level of proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Fluency in Mandarin or Korean is considered a significant advantage.

Core responsibilities

• Collaboration: Actively contribute to the global Loss Prevention team, sharing knowledge and best practices with our clients.

• Strategic execution: Facilitate the implementation of ‘Safer with Gard’ initiatives across Asia, working closely with clients to improve safety performance and reduce claims exposure.

• Marketing and publications: Author and deliver high-quality loss prevention materials, including articles, presentations, and workshops based on Gard’s claims experience and industry developments.

• Trend analysis: Monitor and interpret claims trends to proactively identify and mitigate risks.

• Risk Assessment and surveys: Conduct thorough risk assessments for prospective and existing clients, analyzing reports (including condition surveys) to support informed underwriting decisions; and conduct occasional vessel surveys to assess and advise on risk profiles.

• Internal support and mentorship: Provide expert technical support to the Underwriting and Claims functions to facilitate informed decision-making and serve as a tutor and advisor within areas of expertise, fostering the professional development of colleagues.
