IT Manager

The ideal candidate has a thirst for knowledge, is always playing with the latest technologies and probably wears a tinfoil hat. The candidate should have experience administering various platforms and operation systems with focus on OSS. Responsibilities include integration and internal global IT networks, maintenance of current networks and Linux based servers, supporting a small number of windows users, as well as designing and implementing network and system upgrades and improvements.

IT Manager’s responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the IT support team. Provide first line supervision to direct reports. Coach, mentor and develop direct reports.
  • Ensure incident identification, assessment, quantification, reporting, communication, escalation management, mitigation and monitoring of day to day operations based on KPI agreed with major stakeholders.
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the team, through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.
  • Co-ordination with stakeholders, build and maintain positive working relationships with them.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are defined, tracked and met.

Skills & Requirements

Desirable attributes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent leadership skills in building the team.
  • Previous technical experience in management and maintenance of IT systems especially in the following areas: Network TCP/IP, firewall and VPN (particularly the ability to debug problems using low level tools such as hping, tcpdump, and wireshark)
  • Linux server management and automation via puppet (RHEL or clones preferred) Windows active directory (familiar with concepts such as Red Forest or ESAE a big bonus)
  • Security hardening the configuration of OS and services Apache, nginx, postfix etc.
  • SSH, SSL, Certificates, keys and encryption Virtualization technologies Windows workstations management and support
