Job Description
Would you like to develop solutions for technically demanding machine automation for the international market as part of a rapidly growing, pioneering brand?
Vaski Group is looking for an Automation Engineer to strengthen its automation expertise in Seinäjoki.
Vaski Group is a rapidly growing manufacturer of industrial machine tools that specializes in the machining of busbars and sheet metal used in power distribution, as well as in automation solutions. We combine the strengths of three established brands—Vaski, Pivatic, and Ursviken—and are now looking for a skilled professional to strengthen the Vaski Group’s research and development organization in Seinäjoki.
What will you be doing?
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and, when necessary commissioning of machine automation software throughout the entire lifecycle. Your work will include PLC programming, designing automation architecture and software structures. In addition, ensuring the proper functioning of the systems—including analyzing fault conditions, implementing solutions, and creating technical documentation as part of continuous improvement—is a key part of your work.
In this role, you will work closely with mechanical design, the project organization, and production, and you will participate in the testing, validation, and commissioning of equipment mostly at the Vaski factory and, occasionally, at the customer's premises. The varied nature of the projects offers the opportunity to work on both the development of new automation solutions and the further development and improvement of existing systems.
What makes you a great fit?
You may be the automation engineer we’re looking for if you thrive in a technically demanding environment and want to understand how a machine works as a whole—from mechanics to automation and processes. You’re a skilled PLC professional—a solution-oriented and hands-on individual who values teamwork and wants to grow as a skilled automation expert.
We require you to:
- PLC programming experience (preferably Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff or other European brand also relevant)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in automation engineering roles
- Good understanding of software library design, reusability, and software structures.
- Ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment
- Good English skills, written and spoken
- Suitable technical background (engineer degree or equivalent experience)
We consider as an asset:
- Finnish or Swedish language skills
- Knowledge of Machine Safety
- Experience in heavy industry
We can offer you:
- A stable, fast-growing, and international employer that is a forerunner in its field and offers the opportunity to work with technically demanding, high-end products
- The position focuses primarily on office work
- The opportunity to influence the architecture of PLC software.
- A versatile hands-on role involving demanding and technically significant projects
- A possibility to grow your expertise in a skilled, low-hierarchy team where your technical judgement is trusted
- A comprehensive benefits package including medical expense, travel, and occupational and leisure accident insurance, as well as wellbeing, lunch, and mobile phone benefits
Practicalities:
This is a full-time and permanent position. You will be employed directly by Vaski Group. We hope you can start as soon as possible. The role will be located in Seinäjoki, and we hope you are able to work at the office three days per week as part of a hybrid model.
