Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator for a Contract assignment with one of our premier Healthcare clients in Rockville, MD.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct high-volume telephone intakes for new patients by collecting clinical, demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Complete patient registration and distribute required intake and appointment materials.
- Schedule patients into the appropriate specialty clinic based on intake findings, including Neuropsychology, Concussion, ADHD, Anxiety, and other behavioral health services.
- Review insurance benefits, copays, and financial responsibilities with patients and families.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations for scheduled services.
- Coordinate with physicians, patients, and insurance companies to secure required authorizations and documentation.
- Triage referrals according to department guidelines, manage patient waitlists, and coordinate referrals to the appropriate specialty clinic or community resource.
- Serve as a departmental resource for registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the EMR, including authorization details and account notes.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while supporting a high-volume pediatric outpatient behavioral health practice with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years of recent healthcare administrative, patient access, medical office, or patient registration experience.
- Recent experience conducting patient intake within a mental health, behavioral health, psychology, psychiatry, or neuropsychology practice.
- Experience performing high-volume phone intake, patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and prior authorizations.
- Experience working within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Experience using insurance verification and prior authorization platforms.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and insurance companies.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience triaging patients and coordinating appointments based on specialty or clinical need preferred.
