Site Reliability/DevOps Engineer

We are looking for Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work with mission critical systems accounting for around 150 million Euros in advertising revenue. Advertising Solutions is a relatively new area in Media organisation which houses engineering teams for our back-office systems used by various sales organisations at Schibsted. These systems include Rose which is used to book advertising campaigns, Vantage which deliver campaign reporting and Ads API which provides common Rest API platform for Rose, Vantage and others internal and external customers for managing ads. High availability of these systems is critically important due to their impact on business.

We are now looking for Site Reliability Engineer who will operate in Krakow and provide service for advertising engineering group in place. You will be off to a running start and will have to learn the ropes of existing systems with the help of our established teams.

Once you learn the systems you will continuously work on its technical evolution, scaling and simplification. You will be expected to:

  • Be active in establishing best practices in creating highly efficient and scalable services
  • Work closely with developers in supporting new features, services, releases, and become an authority in our services.
  • Help teams improve service reliability and performance infrastructure to meet demand.
  • Improve the quality of our infrastructure.
  • Document system design and procedures.

Since the software system that an SRE oversees is expected to be highly automatic and self-healing, the Site Reliability Engineer should spend the most of time on development tasks such as new features, scaling or automation. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled system administrator with extensive knowledge on code optimization and automation.

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong sense of architecture and design for fault tolerance, scale, and stability.
  • Strong development/automation skills. Must be very comfortable with reading and writing automation code.
  • Experience with AWS and AWS Services.
  • Unix/Linux experience (shell/tools/kernel/networking).
  • Tools-first mindset. You build tools for yourself and others to increase efficiency and to make hard or repetitive tasks easy and quick.
  • Experience with Configuration Management and CI/CD.
  • Knowledgeable about collecting metrics, measuring systems and interpreting data to make decisions.
  • You will also be required to be comfortable will relational databases in general and Postgresql and MySQL in particular.
  • A plus would be middleware software knowledge such as RabbitMQ, API gateway Kong, Hadoop, Spark and Apache Airflow.
  • Organized, focused on building, improving, resolving and delivering. Good communicator in and across teams, taking the lead.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required.
