As a Software Asset Manager at Tele2 you will be involved in the management of software acquisition, compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning and budgeting. You will be part of the IT Sourcing team that resides within the Group Procurement function.

About the job

As a Software Asset Manager at Tele2 you will lead the Software Asset Management function, encompassing all aspects of the software asset lifecycle — including but not limited to ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and vendor terms, managing entitlements, and maintaining an accurate and audit-ready software inventory. You will be a trusted partner to business stakeholders and software users, translating their needs into effective software acquisition strategies that drive both efficiency and value.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and optimize software assets from initial acquisition and deployment through to maintenance, renewal, and eventual decommissioning.
  • Lead and manage software vendor audits, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring the organization is well-prepared, protected, and positioned for optimal outcomes.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through continuous license optimization, elimination of redundant tools, and reduction of underutilized or unused software entitlements.
  • Drive strategic SAM initiatives aligned with broader IT and business objectives, ensuring software investments deliver measurable value.
  • Develop and implement SAM governance frameworks, policies, and lifecycle processes that support consistent and scalable software management across the organization.
  • Forecast software costs, model renewal scenarios, and actively support in managing licensing budgets to support informed financial planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, legal, finance, and IT stakeholders to align SAM activities with organizational priorities and purchasing strategies.

Who are you?
To thrive and succeed in this role, we believe that you will bring the following experience:

  • Track record in Software Asset Management across complex, large-scale enterprise environments.
  • In-depth understanding of licensing structures and models from key vendors including Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, Broadcom, Autodesk, and JetBrains.
  • Ability to lead and navigate vendor audits while maintaining a strong compliance posture.
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating software agreements and licensing contracts.
  • Proficiency in leading SAM platforms such as Snow License Manager and Flexera.
  • Good understanding of the legal and contractual risk landscape associated with software licensing and entitlement management.
  • Track record of optimizing license positions and driving cost efficiency across the software portfolio.
  • Experience establishing governance structures, defining SAM policies, and managing the full software asset lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native and hybrid licensing models across platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

And, as for personal qualifications, we believe that you:

  • Have a ‘challenger mindset’ and want to do things smarter and more efficiently.
  • Are used to take ownership and independently drive activities across the finish line.
  • Have a structured way of working and have a strong analytical and commercial sense.
  • Are a skilled relationship-builder who can simplify complex licensing topics and communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
