About the role

The overall purpose of this role is to maintain and repair equipment, machinery and tools used in the factory. To provide effective maintenance support to the production team. Carry out repairs to a high standard, working within the engineering team to drive best practice, and communicating effectively with the production department to ensure the smooth running of operations.

    Rotational Shift Pattern:

      • Early Shift: 5:00am – 1:00pm, Monday to Thursday; 5:00am – 12:00am on Friday
      • Late Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm, Monday to Thursday; 1:00pm – 8:00pm on Friday
      • Please note: A different shift pattern may be introduced in the future, with advance notice.: (Night Shift: 10:00pm - 6am)

What will you do?

Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required

Maintenance

  • Carryout Planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine inspections, reports and remedial work.
  • Closely monitor machine performance, identifying and investigating faults.
  • Repair and maintain serviceable valves and spares always ensuring stock levels are correct. Complete a visual check of machine for any other faults or potential problems.
  • Leave machine in a good tidy condition. Carry out all welding and fabrication repairs safely using all PPE equipment provided.
  • Report any faults to either the engineering supervisor or works manager.
  • To provide technical support for the Plant facilities and services, including moulding machines, steam, compressed air, water process pumps and vacuum units.

Breakdowns

  • Be quick to respond to breakdowns as instructed by production, carry out pre-checks to identify fault.
  • Be confident in your diagnosis of electrics, Pneumatic, hydraulic and process functions.
  • Communicate to production supervisor time scales to carry out repair. Machinery down time being the priority until machines is back on and running.
  • You will be working alone with operatives and will be required to make decisions on machine priorities.

Plant & Services

  • At the beginning of your shift ensure all plant and services are correct and the factory has the adequate amount of services for machines running, carry out boiler checks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate at all levels within the business to ensure the customers’ expectations are exceeded in all that we do.
  • Plan, prioritise and self-manage daily activity to be as efficient and effective as possible within this role.
  • Ensure machine is isolated and locked off before commencing work.
  • Overtime – Some overtime will be required during the week & weekends.
  • Holiday/sick cover on the production line – Provide cover within the engineering department in the event of an absence and other Engineering team members, shifts may change accordingly.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not carry any initial responsibility for direct reports.

Measurable Outputs

  • To be decided in review meetings with the Engineering Supervisor. These will reflect the ongoing projects that are being worked on.

Your profile

  • The individual must have the right of residence and to work in the UK. They should be located within the specified territory.
  • Time served apprenticeship with either a City & Guilds of NVQ level 3.
  • In depth knowledge and practical hands on experience in a Production environment.
  • Health and Safety awareness.
  • Professional, friendly and resourceful approach and strength of character.
  • Sound organisational and administrative abilities, and the ability to self-manage and plan a working week.
  • Initiative led, driven and motivated, with a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A career track record of employment within a similar business to ours and which shows loyalty and progression is a definite preference.
