Staff/ Lead Product Designer (App)

We are now hiring a Staff/Lead Product Designer (App) — a staff-level role with end-to-end ownership of the Epassi super app. This is a senior individual-contributor role: you'll lead through influence, collaboration and design excellence.

Your mission at Epassi

As a staff-level designer, you'll deliver Epassi's vision as the Daily Wellbeing Companion by shaping the super app experience for millions of people — from the long-term concept down to the details that make the app a pleasure to use.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Define and shape the super app concept.
  • Own the app's design guidelines within the Epassi design system.
  • Lead hands-on concept creation, interaction design, and visual design for complex, modular app structures.
  • Hold the experience coherent across verticals and markets.
  • Raise the quality bar across the app design team — through patterns, critique, and example, not just direct coaching.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and brand marketing.
  • Define UX metrics that tie design quality to business outcomes.

What success looks like

You make confident decisions across the full app and communicate them with authority — to designers, developers, senior leadership, and business stakeholders alike. You help the team focus on the right problems, not just solve the ones handed to you. You balance a long-term UX vision with what's practical to deliver, and you keep the whole experience moving in one direction.

During the first 6–9 months, you will:

  • Build a deep understanding of the app's users and the business context across Epassi countries.
  • Adopt and drive AI-driven ways of working
  • Take on the super app concept and set a plan to scale and improve it.
  • Establish a strong collaboration model with design system, product management, engineering, UX writing, research, and brand.

What you’ll be doing (daily):

  • Design leadership: Setting direction across app designers, owning the app design guidelines, and driving alignment on UX standards and priorities across domains.
  • Hands-on design work: Jumping in to design, prototype, or review when needed — keeping high quality and coherence across the product.
  • UX metrics: Defining and monitoring UX metrics across the super app
  • Cross-functional alignment: Regular collaboration with engineering, UI architecture, senior product leadership, other senior designers, and brand marketing to align design decisions at scale.
  • Team interaction: Working closely with local colleagues and global teams in an open, low-hierarchy culture.

What you should bring:

  • 8–10+ years designing complex, at-scale consumer apps.
  • Proven ownership of end-to-end product experiences across multiple verticals and markets.
  • Deep command of modern app design trends and interaction paradigms.
  • A track record of connecting design to measurable outcomes.
  • A working understanding of mobile technical constraints and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience in HR tech, fintech, wellness, or sports is a plus.
  • English is mandatory; an Epassi market language is a plus.

Your track record:

  • Published consumer apps with a large, diverse user base.
  • Leading complex, cross-domain design initiatives from start to finish.
  • Setting design standards and guidelines at team or org level.
  • Mentoring and growing other designers.

Your competency profile:

  • Exceptional visual and interaction design skills, with a sharp eye for detail, system coherence, and usability.
  • Strategic thinking — seeing the big picture while staying close to the details that lift an experience.
  • Data-informed decision making, drawing on research, analytics, and metrics to set priorities.
  • Ability to align teams and drive decisions through clarity and trust rather than authority.
  • An adaptable leadership style, comfortable moving from strategy to hands-on execution.

The role can be can be home-based, with twice-monthly travel to one of our offices in Spain (Barcelona), Finland (Helsinki), or Germany (preferably Hamburg or Bremen).
