Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Control®, Max Payne®, Alan Wake®, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world, is looking for a Senior Writer to create high-quality gaming experiences for the next generation of games.

As a Senior Writer at Remedy, you will work with the Writing Team to create stories, characters, dialogue, collectibles, game text, and provide any other writing support the project may need.

You will work closely with other departments as you ideate and iterate your writing, and will be expected to produce writing that supports other departments’ work. You are expected to edit your work based on feedback from fellow writers and other collaborators outside the writing team. Writers are part of the team, no lone typewriters in dark rooms here!

We are looking for somebody to take ownership of larger writing tasks as they help shape new stories for our franchises, while maintaining the style and general oddness Remedy games are known for.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

• Under the direction of the project’s Lead Writer, be responsible for independently owning larger parts of the writing work. This includes owning the ideation, writing, collaboration and discussion with stakeholders across departments, and iteration based on feedback, while also working with producers to estimate and schedule the workload based on craft experience.
• Develop compelling stories, characters and dialogue, delivered within a properly structured screenplay, while meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
• Accept and deliver feedback in a thoughtful and professional manner, and assist in providing notes and guidance for the less experienced writers on the team.
• Collaborate with and seek feedback from all colleagues (not just writers).
• Learn and use our in-house narrative tools to write, edit, and track content.
• Help create and maintain documentation as needed to communicate the game’s story elements both internally and externally.
• Be an open and available communicator, proactively delivering clear and reliable information to colleagues across all departments.
• Support VO/Performance Capture sessions as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

• You have previous experience as a Senior Writer on a shipped AAA first- or third-person game.
• You have an excellent ear for characterization and dialogue, with deep knowledge of story structure and craft.
• You have excellent written and verbal English skills.
• You have a professional writer’s attitude, accepting and delivering feedback in a calm, clear way and respecting deadlines.
• You have experience being flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and production realities.
• You feel at home in a team environment, comfortable collaborating with colleagues across different departments and able to communicate and present ideas in a clear, coherent and professional way. You are dedicated to contributing toward a friendly and inclusive work environment.
• You are able to also work independently, staying organized and on schedule.

Additional Skills We Would Like to See:

• Experience working with actors and directors.
• Experience working in established franchises with existing lore and characters.
