Principal Consultant, Industrial Solution Architecture

Are you the kind of architect who sees the whole system – from field-level sensors and PLM platforms to enterprise integration layers and data pipelines – and knows how to guide industrial organizations in making it all work together?

Etteplan is strengthening its Advisory capabilities and is now looking for a Principal Consultant, Industrial Solution Architecture to join our newly established Advisory team – as our highest individual expert in industrial software, data, and systems architecture.

Etteplan is a fast-growing, global technology service company, partnering with organizations across industries to solve complex challenges through engineering, innovation, and digitalization.

As a Principal Consultant, Industrial Solution Architecture, you hold a dual mandate.

With clients, you are a trusted senior advisor – helping industrial organizations make the right architectural decisions, define target architectures, and connect business objectives, engineering processes, operational systems, and data infrastructure into a coherent whole. You work with C-level and technical leadership alike, building confidence through depth, pragmatism, and a clear view of what is achievable.

Internally, you are a technology authority and thought leader – guiding our teams on technology choices, recognizing where industrial software, data platform, and systems integration landscapes are heading, and helping us develop offerings that are credible and future-relevant.

You have deep expertise in one or more parts of the industrial systems landscape – whether that is product lifecycle and engineering systems, manufacturing and operational technology, or asset management and service operations – and the breadth to navigate confidently across the full product-to-asset continuum. You understand how the digital thread connects engineering, production, and service, and how digital twin concepts and modern data platforms are reshaping what industrial organizations can build.

Your main responsibilities include

Leading architecture framing engagements for industrial clients – assessing current-state technology landscapes, identifying gaps and opportunities, and defining target architectures that bridge business ambition and technical reality.

Designing end-to-ed (E2E) solutions within a packaged offering in the engineering industry.

Acting as a trusted senior advisor to client executives and technical decision-makers, challenging existing assumptions and proposing directions grounded in industrial context.

Defining how systems should connect – linking engineering systems, manufacturing platforms, data infrastructure, and enterprise applications into integrated, scalable architectures across product companies and asset-intensive industries.

Shaping service solutions offering from technology perspective – advising on service solution portfolio direction, tracking where industrial software and platform markets are moving, and ensuring our team stays ahead of client needs.

Supporting pre-sales and business development with architectural insight and credibility, helping frame client opportunities and win complex engagements.

Ensuring continuity from advisory into delivery, working alongside implementation teams to validate that architectural decisions translate into working solutions.

Mentoring and raising the bar for other consultants and architects across the organization, sharing industrial systems knowledge and shaping how we work.

Preferred locations for this role include Espoo and Tampere in Finland; Stockholm, Linköping, and Gothenburg in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark. The role offers opportunities for international collaboration, and some travel may be required.

An ideal candidate will have:

–10+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or senior technical advisory roles in industrial, manufacturing, or engineering-intensive environments.

Deep experience in at least one domain of the industrial systems landscape – such as product lifecycle and engineering systems (PLM, CAx, BOM), manufacturing and operational technology (MES, SCADA, ERP), or asset management and service operations – combined with the breadth to navigate credibly across the full product-to-asset continuum.

–A strong understanding of how modern technologies – cloud platforms, data engineering, industrial IoT, edge-to-cloud architectures, AI/ML, and GenAI – are reshaping industrial software and data environments.

–Experience from asset owner organizations, industrial product companies, or both – and the ability to bring that perspective to advisory work.

–A track record of working with C-level and senior technical stakeholders, building trust through architectural depth, pragmatic judgment, and clear communication.

–A relevant educational background such as an MSc in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

–An AI-first, future-focused mindset, with a clear orientation toward business and operational impact.

What to expect

You will join a newly established Advisory team of leading consultants in the areas of cyber security, data and design – with a defining role in how Etteplan helps industrial organizations build the technology foundations that connect products, engineering, operations, and data. You will work on complex, high-stakes challenges at the frontier of industrial digitalization, shaping both client outcomes and the direction of a growing advisory capability.

Sounds like the right opportunity for you?
