Engineering Manager

As a part of our vision to enrich people’s lives through stories, we are strengthening the engineering foundation behind Podme’s product experience by hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our backend, full-stack, and DevOps engineers. In this role, you will help create the clarity, capability, and delivery conditions behind reliable and scalable product development.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Lead, support, and develop a distributed group of backend, full-stack, and DevOps engineers through coaching, feedback, growth planning, and clear role expectations.
  • Foster an inclusive and accountable environment where employees and consultants across locations have context and support.
  • Maintain visibility of capability, ownership, staffing needs, consultant dependency, and succession risks.
  • Support engineering strategy execution by partnering with Product Managers, System Architect, and other functions to enable effective delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Surface technical debt, reliability risks, infrastructure constraints, and operational needs early to enable informed decisions.
  • Strengthen engineering standards around maintainability, observability, security, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Improve deployment confidence, production ownership, and incident learning while reducing reliance on unclear ownership or key individuals.

ABOUT YOU

You combine people leadership with the technical understanding needed to support backend, platform, full-stack, and DevOps trade-offs. You create clarity in complex environments and help teams improve how they work.

  • Experience leading, coaching, mentoring or developing engineers.
  • Experience working with distributed or hybrid engineering teams. Previous management experience in this setup is a plus.
  • Understanding of modern software delivery practices.
  • Ability to balance engineering standards with team autonomy.
  • Ability to explain engineering trade-offs, risks, and constraints clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Clear communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Cost-conscious approach to staffing, tooling, infrastructure, and technical decisions.
  • Professional-level Polish and English communication skills.

    • Experience leading mixed teams of employees and consultants.
    • Experience with subscription, media, audio, video, or consumer products.
    • Experience with platform reliability, infrastructure-as-code, observability, incident learning, or developer experience.
    • Experience supporting AI-assisted engineering, experimentation capability, or engineering productivity improvements.

    We work in a hybrid way and would like to catch up with you at our vibrant and colourful office in Kraków 2 days per week. This allows for collaboration and meaningful connections with the team.
