We are seeking a Lead Automation Engineer to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for leading industrial automation projects, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, and aligning solutions with customer requirements.

Our projects involve integrating PLC systems, robotics, sensors, vision systems, conveyors, and data platforms into complete, functional solutions. These projects often begin with incomplete or evolving inputs, requiring you to structure requirements into clear, technically sound, and commercially viable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate industrial automation projects from concept to delivery
  • Define, structure, and guide the implementation of integrated systems (PLCs, robotics, sensors, vision, conveyors, data systems)
  • Translate customer requirements into clear specifications and executable solutions for the team to execute
  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations, engineering execution, and delivery targets
  • Provide technical leadership and decision-making in complex and evolving project environments
  • Guide internal engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure system performance, quality, and profitability
  • Define system architectures, interfaces, and integration strategies across multiple platforms

What We Expect from You

  • Strong experience in discrete industrial automation projects, with a solid understanding of system design, integration, and delivery
  • Proven ability to lead technical solutions across multidisciplinary systems
  • Practical background in automation engineering, with the ability to support and guide hands-on work when needed
  • Experience with Siemens / Bekchoff / B&R automation systems
  • Knowledge and background from ABB Robotics and multiple vendor AMR systems is seen as advantage
  • Ability to work across system boundaries, define interfaces, and maintain consistent technical direction
  • Strong stakeholder collaboration skills, especially in customer-facing roles
  • Comfortable working in situations with incomplete information and able to structure work and drive progress proactively
  • Capability to work daily on-site (Vantaa )
  • Fluent in English and Finnish
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Location: Helsinki metropolitan area (on-site in Vantaa)
  • Applicants must have valid authorization to work in Finland

At Etteplan we ensure that your compensation is fair and transparent. Your salary reflects your competencies and contributions, in line with our way of working. For this role, the typical monthly salary is 3500-4800 €/month, depending on your background and experience.
