Top Must Haves:

  • Telecom Installation & Maintenance (3–5 yrs)
    Hands-on experience installing, testing, and repairing telecom equipment/circuits (phones, broadband, racks, APs).

Job Summary
The Facility Technician is responsible for service, repair and preventative maintenance of equipment at client sites, specifically in confinement facilities. The Facility Technician will also assist the Installation Technician team in performing new service/product installations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble and perform maintenance functions on a variety of communication equipment to include but not be limited to phones, video visitation units, tablet/charging units, racks, APs. Perform cable routing to server equipment racks, patch cabling, labeling, and documenting of cable paths. Install/configure carrier level broadband access equipment (T1, DSL, Cable, Fiber, and phone lines).
  • Monitor and respond to trouble tickets consistently throughout each workday; accurately update trouble tickets via the approved ticketing software system. Troubleshoot, debug, and repair equipment in a timely manner with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Perform quarterly equipment checks and preventative maintenance at all assigned facilities. Complete monthly inventory of tools and equipment using appropriate documentation and outlined process.
  • Assist on a variety of installation projects as assigned for both new and existing client needs; including, but is not limited to, mounting equipment such as phones, APs, charging units and wall racks, run/bend conduit, pulling wire, set-up of switches, staging racks/shelves, and assessing inventory. Will complete site surveys/walkthroughs and build orders as needed within assigned territory.
  • Ensure the Company vehicle is in safe, fully operational condition according to the Vehicle Service and Maintenance form. Use Company approved software to track travel and expenses related to company vehicles.

  • Respond quickly to internal and external client needs, ensuring quality workmanship while maintaining safety compliance.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined by Company and Manager including but not limited to travel and expense, timekeeping, ticketing system, inventory, documentation, and maintenance of company vehicle.
  • Perform and maintain accurate inventory for parts and equipment. Show good judgment and character in protecting company assets and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Level of Education, Degrees Required or Preferred
High School diploma or equivalent; Technical training in telephony, telecommunications installation procedures, preferred. Associate Degree is a plus, Military experience is a plus.
Relevant Work Experience Required
3-5 years’ experience with installation, maintenance and testing of equipment and circuits, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS

  • Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hour calls; ability to travel frequently with short notice.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills; Basic to intermediate tool knowledge including drills (hammer drills, impact drills, drill bits, etc.), screw drivers, nut drivers, use of ladder, scissor lift, single man lift, amp tool, fluke meter etc.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of relay switches, running wire, cabling, color code knowledge of Cat6 Wire, rack equipment, server equipment.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Effort / Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, meters, etc.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive for long distances.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines or respond to urgent client needs.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, sometimes lifting and holding to wall or above head.

Working Conditions
Work inside and outside or from a work vehicle; conditions typical to a confinement facility as regulated by the confinement facility; 100% travel within assigned territory, up to 35% travel outside of assigned territory.
