The Functional Team Lead is a hybrid role sitting at the intersection of people leadership and hands-on delivery. You will lead and develop a growing team of Solution Consultants in our Partner Ready Product Acceleration program, while continuing to contribute directly to customer implementations. As the team grows, the balance will shift progressively towards leadership, but right now, both dimensions matter equally. This role is central to Basware’s “Customer First, Partner Enabled” strategy and requires someone who leads by example, with a proactive mindset for leveraging AI to drive efficiency across both delivery and team operations.

Team Leadership

Build and Develop the Team: Act as solid line manager for a team of Solution Consultants, taking responsibility for the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, goal setting, performance and development discussions, and retention.

Guide Daily Work and Drive Results: Plan and assign delivery activities across the team, hold regular check-ins to review progress and give feedback, and ensure clarity and focus in a fast-paced program environment.

Coach and Grow People: Support team members’ personal development and wellbeing, recognise and celebrate success, and foster a high-performing culture of empowerment, trust, and accountability.

Drive Continuous Improvement: Implement initiatives that improve delivery quality and team efficiency, including identifying and introducing AI tools and practices that streamline operations across the program.

Hands-On Delivery

Deliver Customer Transformations: Contribute directly to customer implementations alongside your team, executing delivery phases from analysis and design through build, testing, go-live, and hypercare.

Consult and Challenge: Work directly with global enterprise customers to design target solutions, challenge outdated setups, and guide them through significant change with confidence and expertise.

Build Strong Customer Relationships: Establish trust with key stakeholders, communicate clearly on risks and progress, and support the team in delivering successful go-lives and post-go-live hypercare.

Skills & Requirements

In order to thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have:

  • People Leadership Experience: Proven experience as a people manager or team lead, with the ability to manage the full employee lifecycle, coach individuals, and build a high-performing team culture of empowerment and accountability.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A consultative, value-driven approach that puts customer outcomes first with the confidence to challenge outdated setups and guide both customers and team members through significant change.
  • Technical and Functional Proficiency: Minimum 5 years of implementation experience in ERP or AP automation projects, with hands-on experience in solution configuration, data mapping, and system integrations in complex enterprise environments.
  • AI-Forward Thinking: A proactive approach to leveraging AI tools across both delivery and team operations with a genuine curiosity for how AI can improve processes, reduce manual effort, and create value for customers and the team alike.
  • Strong Communication and Collaboration: Skilled at communicating clearly across all levels, with customers, team members, and senior stakeholders and able to facilitate workshops, drive alignment, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Nice to Have

  • Basware Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with Basware AP, Basware Network, or similar AP automation platforms is a significant advantage.
  • Migration or Re-implementation Experience: Background in system migrations or re-implementations with live customer impact is highly valued.
  • Hands-on AI Experience: Practical experience applying AI tools in a Professional Services, team management, or implementation context.
