The Domain Lead, AI & Delivery Platform carries the Chief Architect position and end-to-end accountability for the backbone of WithSecure Elements. Every engineering team depends on what this domain builds: the AI and data architecture, codebase intelligence infrastructure, delivery platform, and AI transformation programme. This is a builder role. The right person has a proven track record of building AI-native platforms at scale, earns architectural authority through judgment and delivery credibility, and translates a compelling multi-year vision into a sequenced investment plan.

Direct reports are the AI Architect, Senior Architect (Data and AI), and three Engineering Leads (Data Engineering Platform, AI Development Platform, AI Engineering). The AI Transformation Lead reports to the CTO and is a close peer partner. The Domain Lead holds the vision both the domain and the transformation programme execute toward, represents the domain on the Technology leadership team, and keeps the transformation programme aligned with the platform roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chief Architect: Own the architectural vision spanning data and AI platform, semantic layer, and delivery infrastructure. Set the principles and guardrails the AI Architect and Engineering Leads operate within; hold final authority on cross-pillar architectural trade-offs that individual architects cannot resolve.
  • Domain Leadership: Set direction, build alignment across the architecture and engineering lead functions, and lead through direct reports without substituting for their judgment. Partner with the AI Transformation Lead – a CTO direct report – to keep the platform roadmap and transformation programme in step.
  • AI-Native Platform Vision & Roadmap: Own a compelling multi-year platform roadmap that earns CTO and Technology leadership commitment. Translate the organisation’s AI-native engineering ambition into a sequenced investment plan; update it as evidence and priorities shift.
  • Technology Leadership Team Contribution: Represent the domain in Technology leadership decisions. Bring the platform perspective to cross-domain strategy and investment prioritisation; ensure the domain’s programme is legible to executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • People Leadership: Lead five direct reports (AI Architect, Senior Architect, three Engineering Leads). Build leadership capacity, manage performance actively, and create a culture that attracts and retains top engineering and architecture talent.
  • Domain Delivery Accountability: Own delivery commitments across all domain pillars. Set credible milestones, remove organisational blockers, and escalate risks to the CTO with clear trade-off options.
  • Customer & Engineering Team Outcome Ownership: Hold accountability for the platform value delivered to engineering teams and, through them, to WithSecure customers. Act when adoption signals or platform health indicate the enablement is falling short.
  • Technical Health & Architectural Integrity: Maintain architectural integrity, technical health, and operational standards across all pillars. Ensure technical debt is visible, operational reliability is non-negotiable, and responsible AI and data security are embedded from the ground up.
  • Cross-Domain Enablement: Ensure platform capabilities actively enable all engineering teams. Own the cross-domain dependency resolution that architects and Engineering Leads cannot close at their level; partner with the AI Transformation Lead to keep the programme reaching every domain.
  • Peer Domain & Product Collaboration: Work closely with peer Domain Leads and the Product & Portfolio unit to align the platform roadmap with product strategy. Resolve cross-domain conflicts at peer level without escalation.
  • Company Data & AI Alignment: Collaborate with the company-level Data & AI team to keep WithSecure’s platform direction coherent with company-wide data governance, AI strategy, and shared infrastructure. Contribute where the domain’s platform choices advance the company’s broader data and AI capability.
  • External Visibility & Thought Leadership: Act as a visible spokesperson for AI-native platform development internally and externally. Build WithSecure’s credibility with customers, partners, industry peers, and the technical community.
  • Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management: Translate the domain’s technical portfolio into business-relevant signals for the CTO and Technology leadership team: capabilities unlocked, programme pace, investment trade-offs, decisions required. Escalate with clarity, not noise.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven track record of building and scaling AI-native platforms in a software product company – with real delivery ownership, not programme oversight.
  • Experience as a Chief Architect or equivalent, with demonstrated ability to set architectural direction that other architects and engineers operate within.
  • Deep technical background in data architecture, AI systems, and platform infrastructure – fluent enough to hold the AI Architect and Engineering Leads to a high bar and arbitrate architectural trade-offs at domain level.
  • Proven track record of working closely with data at scale – collaborating with data science teams and hands-on experience building or owning large-scale data systems in low-latency, high-throughput environments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with agentic AI systems, AI coding tools, and the infrastructure requirements of AI-native engineering at scale.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary specialist teams including senior architects and engineering leads – developing leaders, not just managing individuals.
  • Strong executive presence; track record of representing complex platform programmes to CTO and board-level stakeholders and making investment trade-offs explicit.
  • Experience driving AI transformation or equivalent engineering capability programmes with measurable outcomes in delivery maturity, not just training completion.
  • Demonstrated record of leading through significant changes in how engineering work is done, including the cultural shift to AI-native delivery practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with peer domain leads, product & portfolio, company data and AI functions, and external partners – and to represent the organisation credibly as a public voice for AI-native engineering.
  • Experience in a cybersecurity, regulated, or security-sensitive product environment preferred – with practical understanding of how data sensitivity constraints shape platform architecture choices.

  • Data at Scale: Understands the demands of large-scale data systems – low-latency retrieval, high-throughput pipelines, data quality at volume, and the practical constraints of running data infrastructure in a security product context. Can engage credibly with data science teams and hold the domain’s data architecture to a high standard.
  • Organisational Leadership: Sets direction through direct reports without micromanaging; creates conditions where senior specialists do their best work. Manages through conflict and ambiguity and builds a domain culture that retains strong technical leaders.
  • People Leadership & Leader Development: Develops direct reports into stronger leaders – coaches architects on trade-off articulation and cross-domain influence, Engineering Leads on delivery accountability and AI-native practices. Manages careers actively through clarity, growth, and stretch.
  • Delivery Accountability: Takes end-to-end ownership of domain commitments – milestones, blockers, escalation. Distinguishes between holding the domain to its commitments and substituting for direct reports’ judgment.
  • Executive Communication: Communicates platform progress and trade-offs to CTO and Technology leadership in terms that drive decisions. Does not obscure difficulty behind technical or programme complexity.
  • AI-Native Delivery Leadership: Reads delivery performance in an AI-native context – measures through lead time, change failure rate, and customer outcome delivery rather than output metrics. Drives the upstream shift in problem framing and specification quality.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Peer Collaboration: Builds productive relationships with peer Domain Leads, Product & Portfolio, the company Data & AI team, and external stakeholders. Resolves cross-domain tensions at peer level; earns trust through follow-through and understanding of what neighbouring teams need.
  • Cross-Domain Influence: Drives platform adoption and transformation programme execution without direct authority over most teams. Builds coalitions through credibility and practical enablement.
  • External Presence & Spokesperson Credibility: Credible and compelling public voice for AI-native platform development. Represents WithSecure’s technical approach to customers, partners, and the industry without overstating what has been built.
  • Transformation & Change Leadership: Guides the organisation through fundamental shifts in how engineering work is done. Models the AI-native mindset personally; manages resistance at organisational scale.
