Job Description
Are you curious about combining systems engineering with hands-on coordination in space instrumentation projects? Join ASRO and help turn ambitious space missions into reality!
Your role with us
As a Systems Engineer at Aboa Space Research (ASRO), you will play a central role in coordinating the technical execution of space instrumentation projects, particularly within the microscope business area. You will act as the glue between multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners such as ESA and research institutes.
In this role, you will ensure that complex technical systems progress according to plan by maintaining a clear overview of requirements, timelines, and technical dependencies. Your work combines hands-on systems engineering with project coordination, meaning you will both contribute to technical tasks and ensure that the bigger picture stays under control.
Your responsibilities include coordinating technical activities across electronics, mechanics, optics and software, managing requirements and documentation, and supporting MAIT planning and implementation. You will also collaborate closely with international stakeholders and contribute to system-level development activities.
What makes you a great fit?
You enjoy combining technical problem-solving with project coordination responsibilities. You might be at the beginning of your engineering career or already a more experienced professional — what matters most is your proactive mindset, curiosity toward complex technical systems, and willingness to take ownership of moving things forward.
You are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and keeping different technical workstreams aligned. While you don’t need to be a ready expert from day one, you bring enough technical understanding to engage in engineering discussions and contribute hands-on when needed. Most importantly, you are motivated to grow into a broader systems engineering and technical coordination role over time.
We hope you have:
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical field
- Some relevant work experience from engineering, projects, or multidisciplinary environments
- Familiarity with space, aerospace, or other high-reliability environments
- Ability to manage technical documentation and structured workflows
- Good communication skills in English and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders
We consider as an asset:
- Experience from space projects
- Familiarity with system engineering practices or requirement management tools
- Experience working in project-based environments
- Finnish language skills
What ASRO offers you?
- Unique and impactful work developing meaningful space projects where your work directly supports research beyond Earth
- A versatile role where you can directly see your impact - with us, you can grow into a key technical role with real responsibility in multidisciplinary projects
- The impact and versatility that come with working in a small company with minimal hierarchy
- Flexible working methods and the possibility of partial remote work
- Healthcare insurance as an employment benefit
This is a permanent, full-time role, and you will be employed directly to ASRO. Start time in the role is negotiable, but we hope you can start working as soon as possible or in August. The role is based in Turku, and we hope you can work mainly on-site as part of the project team, with flexibility for partial remote work. Salary in this position is determined individually based on your experience and expertise..
