Job Description
About Plock
Plock is a usage data platform with subscription management, built for SaaS companies that need to bill on what their customers actually do. We're Swedish, small, profitable, and the platform our customers run their business on every day.
We're hiring our 6th engineer — a Product Engineer who'll help shape where Plock goes next.
What we care about
- Owning outcomes. Nobody hands you work. You talk to customers, figure out what matters, decide what to build, and ship it. The line between product and engineering doesn't really exist here.
- Thinking together. Ownership doesn't mean working in a silo. We get together regularly to talk through what we're building, poke holes in each other's ideas, and arrive at better solutions than any of us would alone. Strong opinions, loosely held.
- Shaping how we work. Our processes come from the team, not from a playbook. If something's slow or annoying, you change it. If it can be automated, we automate it — we'd rather build leverage than grind.
- Moving fast and adapting. Small company, real customers, no committees. We change our minds when we learn something new, and we ship before things are perfect.
- AI as default. AI coding tools are how we work day-to-day, not a novelty. We expect everyone to be fluent with them and to keep up as they evolve.
Who we're looking for
- Hybrid builders. You've done real product work and real engineering work, and you prefer the messy overlap to either pure discipline. You're as comfortable in a support thread as in a pull request.
- Self-starters. You see something that needs doing and you do it — whether that's onboarding a new customer, fixing a bug a user just reported, or rethinking part of the product. You don't wait for tickets.
- Clear thinkers and writers. You can explain your reasoning, push back well, and write something a customer or teammate can actually understand. You think about the business, not just the code.
- Pragmatic shippers. You know when to do it properly and when to ship the rough version. You don't confuse complexity with quality.
What you'll do
- Own features end-to-end. From the customer conversation that sparked the idea, through the design and code, to the rollout and the follow-up. You'll ship across our stack — Laravel, PostgreSQL, React.
- Talk to customers. Help onboard new ones, jump into support when something breaks, and turn what you learn into product decisions. The best product engineers we know have customers they're on a first-name basis with.
- Define the backlog. You'll have a real say in what we build and in what order. "Just do what's on the board" isn't the job.
- Automate the tedious stuff. Yours, the team's, the customers'. If something is being done by hand for the third time, that's a signal.
Requirements
- Professional proficiency in both Swedish and English.
- Comfortable with modern AI coding tools — this is non-negotiable.
- Full-stack experience; ideally with PHP/Laravel, PostgreSQL, and React, but strong engineers in adjacent stacks are welcome.
Nice to have
- Experience building AI-powered product features.
- Background in SaaS, billing, or developer-facing tools.
- A side project or 0→1 thing you can point to.
The practical bits
We have offices in Stockholm and Uppsala. This role is ideally based in Uppsala, but we're flexible for the right person.
