Process Engineer

At Scania Industrial Batteries, we design and build advanced battery systems for off-road machines - and the digital solutions that make them smarter. From our R&D hub in Solna, Sweden, and production site in Gdańsk, Poland, we develop platforms that connect batteries, machines, and people through real-time data, analytics, and automation. Our technology enables the electrification of heavy industries such as mining, construction, and marine - transforming how energy is used in some of the world’s most demanding environments.

We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to join our Technology Development team, to lead advanced process development and industrialization in a high-tech R&D environment.

This role is well suited for an engineer with solid manufacturing experience who enjoys combining technical depth with collaboration, learning and shared responsibility. You will take on significant responsibility, while being part of a core team where knowledge is shared and developed together.

Your role

As a Process Engineer, you will play an important part in developing and industrializing robust manufacturing processes. You will work closely with colleagues across R&D, quality and production, and contribute throughout the full development journey:

  • Lead and contribute to end‑to‑end process development, from early R&D concepts to industrialized solutions
  • Translate product requirements into reliable and scalable manufacturing processes
  • Own FAT / SAT and process commissioning
  • Develop and apply quality assurance methods
  • Perform data‑driven process evaluations and root cause analyses
  • Work with DFMEA, PFMEA and other key manufacturing documentation
  • Contribute to the development of state‑of‑the‑art technical solutions within electrification
  • Work in both fast‑paced prototype environments and in close cooperation with serial production experts
  • Support knowledge sharing and mentor junior engineers
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles

With our office in Tomteboda, Solna, as your main location, we offer a dynamic and flexible workplace with hybrid work options. Benefits include sound and sustainable working hours, a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, pension and 30 days of vacation, parental leave and time bank policy.

Skills & Requirements

Skills and experience

This role requires experience, and we are looking for someone who brings a strong manufacturing background:

  • Several years of experience (typically 5+ years) working in manufacturing environments such as automotive, medical devices, semiconductor, or pharma
  • Solid understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, and experience implementing processes in either low‑volume or high‑volume production
  • A structured and analytical approach to problem‑solving (e.g. 8D, Ishikawa or similar methods)
  • Experience writing technical documentation such as requirement specifications, validation protocols and test reports

Experience in precision dispensing and adhesive processes

Hands‑on experience in precision dispensing processes or a relevant certification (such as European Adhesive Engineer – EAE) is a strong advantage, but not required. Relevant experience may include:

  • Structural adhesives, TIM or TCA materials
  • 1K / 2K material systems
  • Surface preparation methods (plasma activation, laser cleaning, etc.)
  • Static or dynamic metering and mixing systems
  • Process monitoring (e.g. bead control cameras or similar systems)
  • Process validation, capability optimization and curing behavior

Experience from related processes or materials is highly valued, even if your background does not match every item above.

Who you are

We believe you are someone who:

  • Enjoys bringing structure and clarity to complex technical challenges
  • Takes responsibility for your work while valuing collaboration and shared success
  • Manages priorities well, even when timelines are tight, with support from the team
  • Contributes to a positive team culture and communicates clearly and respectfully

A note on inclusion

We believe diverse teams create better solutions. Underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply, even if you do not meet every single requirement listed above. If you recognize yourself in parts of the role and have relevant manufacturing experience, we would very much like to hear from you.
