Main goal

The EURO Sustainability Coordinator plays a key part in delivering the UEFA EURO 2028 environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, with responsibility for operational planning and strategy implementation across tournament stadiums. The role contributes directly to ensuring operational excellence for UEFA EURO 2028, one of Europe’s largest sporting events.


The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for embedding ESG requirements into event operations, with a strong focus on delivering an accessible fan journey, supporting accessible ticket holders, coordinating diversity and inclusion measures, and developing and preparing the training for the on-site sustainability event workforce. Working in close coordination with internal UEFA teams, host stakeholders and delivery partners, the role supports the creation of a best-in-class and inclusive event experience for all participants throughout the tournament life cycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinating the operational planning and delivery of environmental, social and governance activities across all UEFA EURO 2028 stadiums, contributing to operational excellence
  • Planning and coordinating an accessible fan journey across all UEFA EURO 2028 stadiums, including the delivery of accessibility services such as audio-descriptive commentary, sensory rooms and the deployment of dedicated volunteer teams
  • Working closely with colleagues to respond to enquiries from accessible ticket holders and meet operational requirements
  • Supporting anti-discrimination measures at the tournament, such as by coordinating the match observer scheme and online abuse monitoring platform, preparing related documentation and ticket requests, and managing contracts within UEFA procurement systems
  • Planning and implementing diversity and inclusion measures in line with the applicable legal framework, including the UK Equality Act 2010, and UEFA’s diversity and inclusion commitments
  • Supporting safeguarding and welfare measures in close collaboration with the safety and security team, contributing to the operational delivery of the human rights targets set out in the UEFA EURO 2028 ESG strategy
  • Contributing to the preparation and delivery of operational readiness training for the tournament's on-site sustainability workforce
  • Supporting in-tournament operations, including on‑site coordination, ensuring consistent service levels, providing support to operational staff, managing last‑minute changes and contributing to issue resolution and troubleshooting during event delivery

Skills & Requirements

Requirements

Experience:

  • From 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in an operational role within a complex, multicultural project environment, ideally at large‑scale international sporting events
  • From 1 to 3 years' experience working on sustainability, accessibility, diversity, inclusion, human rights or social impact topics in an operational context is an asset

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, event management, social sciences, human rights, project management or a related field

Languages:

  • English / Fluent

Other requirements:

  • Relocation to Switzerland/France is expected
  • MS Office / Advanced
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into clear, practical and deliverable operational plans
  • Proven ability to coordinate and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal teams, service providers, host organisations and external partners
  • Good understanding of operational planning processes and on‑site delivery requirements for major events
  • Independent, self‑motivated working style with strong ownership of tasks
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in parallel, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to prepare operational documentation, presentations and guidance materials
  • Travel requirements:
    • Ability and willingness to travel regularly in line with tournament planning and delivery needs
    • Full availability (including potential on-site presence) in the run up to and during the tournament (between 2 to 4 months)
    • Occasional additional travel as needed
