Curate builds tools and services for automating and personalising news feeds.
Curate sets out to revolutionize how we distribute the right content to the right user at the right time. It’s as simple as that.
The team has the mandate and space to experiment and radically change our publications main assets - their front pages.
In Curate you’ll be part of a highly dedicated and extremely competent cross-functional team with everything it needs to realize its mission, including skills within engineering, UX, product management and data science/machine learning.
The team has proved the founding bet: that an automated front-page can perform better than a manually curated one, and we are now in the process of scaling and improving the offering.
There is a long journey ahead, but our work has already been recognized with prestigious awards like the INMA Award for “Best in Europe”.
The whole industry is learning and watching closely as we undertake one of the biggest changes in how readers experience journalism, and if you are seeking impact, this is the role for you.
As Engineering Manager, you will partner up with Maria, the teams’ PM and lead the work in building and scaling the product beyond the current offering. You will have the opportunity to influence culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.
We don’t have full-time managers in our smaller self-organizing teams. You should be comfortable being hands-on in the daily work (code and tech leading). It is a balancing act that requires judgment and maturity, we don’t want you to compromise your engineering management responsibilities.
We think the ideal candidate is a very driven senior engineer that today acts as an informal leader in her/his setting. You should see this as an opportunity to get experience in engineering management, in a very safe environment, while still not leaving the software craftsmanship behind. You can also be an engineering manager that wants to get back to the craft. Best of two worlds?
