Do you want to join us in building a cleaner tomorrow? Gasum is a Nordic energy expert. Our purpose is to help our customers navigate the energy transition by offering cleaner energy and superior energy management services.

We are looking for a Junior Analyst for the summer based in our Espoo office.

The employment period is from May to end of September based on availability.

Gasum is the leading Nordic energy expert, helping its customers navigate the energy markets responsibly towards a cleaner future. We provide our customers with energy market expertise across the entire market value chain. We also help our customers find the best ways to procure and sell renewable energy. Our energy market services include, among others, portfolio management and market reporting services for the electricity, gas and emissions allowance markets, trading services, Guarantees of Origin, and 24/7 control room services.

At Gasum, our Power business plays a pivotal role in the sustenance and growth of our business. Our team consists of 12 Gasum Portfolio Services team experts and 13 Power team professionals, working together to deliver customer value across power, gas, and energy markets.

As a Junior Analyst, you will work as part of the Gasum Portfolio Services and Power Team, supporting the development of up-to-date forecasts, reports, and supporting product and system development. The role provides wide insight into all power market activities—from physical power operations to financial hedging and portfolio optimization—while also contributing to commercial and strategic decision-making through analytics and financial modelling.

Main responsibilities in the role are:

  • Support the optimization of the physical power customer portfolio across all types of assets.
  • Support development of operational activities: forecasting tools, new products, systems, processes, and ways of working.
  • Assist in onboarding new customers and enabling growth in the Power business.
  • Conduct reporting duties and support monthly reporting process development including PnL tool validation.
  • Collaborate closely with the 24/7 Control Room and Sales teams.
  • Handle trading- and PPA-related tasks within the ETRM system.
  • Build business case models and perform calculations to support product development, commercial initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Support investment case calculations and modelling, including sensitivity analyses and scenario comparisons.
  • Perform financial and profitability calculations and reporting, supporting profitability follow-up and management reporting.
  • Contribute to power market analytics tasks, such as analyzing market drivers, price formation, portfolio performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Assist in strategy implementation coordination, including preparation of materials, tracking of initiatives, and supporting cross-team execution.

You will work on a combination of the above responsibilities, with focus areas defined based on your strengths, interests, and changing business needs during the summer.

What we expect from you:

  • Advanced-level university studies like MSc / MBA or equivalent or nearing completion in a relevant field e.g., finance, economics, engineering, energy, mathematics, analytics.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Finnish and English.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured approach: ability to turn data into clear insights, assumptions, and conclusions.
  • Solid skills in Excel and quantitative work, including calculations, scenario comparisons, and building clear reporting outputs.
  • Comfort working with financial and profitability figures, supporting follow-up and management reporting.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to summarize findings clearly for different stakeholders e.g., Control Room, Sales, Portfolio.
  • High attention to detail and reliability, especially in reporting, forecasts, and validation tasks.

What will be an advantage

  • Business case / investment case modelling experience, such as unit economics, profitability drivers, ROI logic, sensitivity/scenario analysis.
  • Understanding of power and energy markets, such as price drivers, hedging logic, PPAs, spot vs. derivatives, and/or portfolio operations.
  • Data/BI or coding skills e.g., Power BI, SQL, Databricks, Python — a plus, not a requirement.
  • Familiarity with ETRM systems and/or trading and portfolio tooling is a plus.

Your personal characteristics

  • Solution‑oriented and proactive
  • Can‑do mindset
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Positive attitude toward change
  • Result-oriented
  • Agile and innovative
  • Strong team player

What we offer you:

  • Interesting tasks in a Nordic work environment and a front row seat into the renewable energy transition
  • A positive and encouraging work community that drives change together
  • Development opportunities in our sustainable, innovative and inclusive company
  • A forward looking and modern workplace and an encouraging team to support you
