Sourcing Specialist
As a Sourcing specialist for Varner, you will work for our brands, Dressmann, Cubus, Volt, Bik Bok, Carlings and Junkyard, in a production-driven purchasing organization. The role is part of the Global Production team and serves as a resource for all brand Design and Buying teams. You will work closely with other professional functions within Varner, such as sustainability related roles, and have close interaction with our Global production Offices located in Turkey, India, Bangladesh, and China.
Your tasks will include contributing to the strategic direction for your portfolio categories, along with continuous portfolio development. Traceability is a key focus for Varner, and many of your tasks will be related to our goals in this area. The role involves close interaction with designers and buyers in our various brands, to secure their needs in terms of suppliers and traceability. Some travel is required to our production countries to establish relationships with suppliers. Other required travel may include visiting global fairs to source for new suppliers, new innovations, and trends within your category.
The role is located at our Service Office at Slependen in Oslo, Norway, and reports to the Global Sourcing Manager.
Areas of responsibility
- Responsible for a portfolio of garment and fabric suppliers that support Varner's sustainability goals and sourcing strategy, within your category.
- Contribute to the Sourcing Strategy and guide Varner’s brands within your category.
- Map the needs from the brands and ensure that your portion of the portfolio is relevant and delivers to the need.
- Contribute to Supplier Evaluation for your portion of the portfolio.
- Coordinate Supplier Week meetings, cross-brand forums and category related sourcing projects.
- Keep yourself updated and informed about new trends and innovations within production and materials. Attend fairs and be proactively connected with suppliers and mills with the aim of establishing strong partnerships.
Kompetanse
Experience and education
- Knowledge about garments and trimming total supply chains.
- Knowledge of production and production costing is an advantage.
- Experience working with PLM systems is a benefit.
- Relevant higher education is preferred, though work experience and strong results can compensate for education.
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
