UX Writer

Are you the kind of writer who obsesses over the right word — not just any word? Do you believe that clear, consistent language is what separates a product people trust from one they abandon? Join us to make an impact in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you'll play a key role in boosting everyday wellbeing — at home, and at work.

Epassi's purpose is to boost everyday wellbeing. We are a leading provider of employee benefit solutions across Europe. Established in Finland in 2007, we were the first company in Europe to launch a mobile-payable employee benefit payment solution — and we haven't stopped innovating since. Epassi has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of Europe's fastest-growing companies on multiple occasions.

We are currently hiring a UX Writer to be based in Germany.

Your mission at Epassi

Germany is our biggest strategic market, and as we expand our product offering there, consistent and user-centered language is key. As our first dedicated UX Writer, your focus will be on building clarity and engagement into every product touchpoint — grounded in a solid understanding of how our users across different segments actually think and talk about benefits and work. Working within our existing brand and tone of voice, you'll develop the product-level terminology, guidelines, and content patterns that ensure Epassi feels coherent and on-brand everywhere users encounter us.

Your responsibilities

  • Research and define the German product terminology: conduct vocabulary studies, content audits, and user research to understand what language resonates with different user segments (e.g. employers vs. employees, industries, regions)
  • Build and own a global terminology library and UX writing guidelines, collaborating closely with designers, researchers, product management, and marketing
  • Translate your research into practical, scalable deliverables: glossaries, tone of voice guidelines, content patterns, and writing principles embedded in our design system
  • Write and refine microcopy across German product surfaces — buttons, errors, onboarding flows, notifications, empty states — ensuring clarity and consistency at every touchpoint
  • Partner with marketing content creators to ensure that product language and brand language are coherent and mutually reinforcing across all channels
  • Use AI tools and modern content workflows to scale the quality and speed of UX writing across teams

You'll be successful in this role if you

  • Have led content research — vocabulary testing, cloze tests, tree testing, or similar — that directly shaped a product's language or information architecture
  • Have built a terminology framework or style guide that other teams actively use
  • Can show how your word choices reduced user friction, support load, or confusion in a measurable way
  • Are energised by the ambiguity of a blank page, not slowed down by it

What you'll be doing (daily)

A typical week might look like: running a moderated content test with German users to validate terminology for a new feature, then synthesising the findings into a glossary entry and a recommendation to the product team. You'll review design mockups and flag copy issues before they ship, join a sprint review to advocate for user-centred language decisions, and sit down with a marketing content creator to align on how a product concept is described across touchpoints. You'll be the person in the room who asks "but is this actually how our users would say it?" — and you'll have the research to back up the answer.

What you should bring

  • 3+ years of experience in UX writing or content design, with a track record of working across complex, multi-audience digital products
  • A strong command of UX writing craft: information hierarchy, progressive disclosure, error message design, content patterns
  • Experience planning and conducting content research — whether through dedicated studies or in collaboration with UX researchers
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted writing tools and a curiosity about how to use them well
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your thinking process, not just your output

Your language profile

  • German at native level — you'll be doing deep linguistic research in German and writing product copy for German users
  • English at high proficiency — our internal language is English, you'll collaborate globally, and the ability to write polished English copy is a strong advantage
  • Additional European languages are a welcome bonus

Your track record

We'd love to hear about things like:

  • Developing a controlled vocabulary and content style guide grounded in user research — artefacts that product teams and designers actually use
  • Running content validation studies (e.g. comprehension tests, preference tests, first-click tests) and translating findings directly into product copy decisions
  • Partnering with marketing or brand teams to create coherent language across product and campaign touchpoints
  • Embedding your work into the design system so content decisions scale — through reusable content patterns, writing principles, or AI-assisted workflows

Your competency profile

  • Research-driven writing: You don't guess what users understand — you find out. You bring a methodical approach to validating language and turn insights into durable guidelines.
  • Systems thinking: You see individual copy decisions as part of a larger content system, and you build for consistency and reuse from day one.
  • Strategic influence: You know how to advocate for user-centred language decisions in rooms full of people who think about features, not words — and you bring the evidence to back it up.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: You thrive working across product, design, marketing, and leadership, and you know how to align different stakeholders around a shared content direction.
  • Proactivity: You spot gaps and inconsistencies before they become problems, and you take ownership of fixing them.
  • AI fluency: You're actively exploring how AI tools can make your work sharper and faster — without losing the human judgement that makes great writing.

Why you should join us

  • Own something meaningful from day one — as Epassi's first UX Writer, you'll build the language foundations of a product used by millions of people across Europe
  • Work with a clear purpose — boosting everyday wellbeing — and create a meaningful, positive impact on both individuals and society
  • Thrive in an open, inclusive culture with low hierarchy, where relationships are built on respect, camaraderie, and shared successes
  • Come as you are — we'll bring out the best in you and support your personal and professional growth
  • Join a fast-growing tech company with a strong financial foundation, and a global team of driven, bold, and entrepreneurial Epassians
  • Benefit from an inspiring and supportive work environment where employee wellbeing is a genuine priority — not just a talking point.
