Join our team and make an impact in Risk Management

Do you enjoy working in a collaborative environment where your insights contribute directly to better decision-making across an international organisation? If so, this could be a great opportunity for you.

As a leading global marine insurer, Gard owns and operates a significant portfolio worldwide. Our Risk Management team plays an important role in understanding the risks and opportunities that shape our assets, our strategy, and our long‑term resilience.

In this role, you will work across the organisation to identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks. You will collaborate with colleagues in different functions to understand potential exposures, evaluate financial impact and support effective risk mitigation, and ensure that we make well-informed, data driven decisions.

Data and analysis are a central part of how we work. You will use data to help measure and monitor risks in our core business activities, support our internal risk capital model and contribute to identifying emerging risks and their potential implications.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, manage, monitor and report material risks that may affect Gard.
  • Maintain the risk landscape and the company’s risk register.
  • Interpret and understand the risk and economic capital estimated in the internal risk capital model.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
  • Carry out scenario analysis and stress testing
  • Contribute to develop and maintain risk policies, procedures and frameworks.
  • Monitor and follow up exposures and maintain risk limits.
  • Prepare risk and solvency reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to gather and analyse data.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments to ensure compliance.
  • Provide advice and guidance on risk-related matters.
  • Communicate and promote risk management across the organisation, including training and presentations.

Who we are looking for

  • Education in economics, finance, risk management or a related field, and/or relevant professional experience
  • Experience with marine insurance is an advantage but not required.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, board members, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to translate findings into clear insights for the bigger picture and business context.
  • Interest in and good understanding of digital tools
  • Proactive, structured, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Confident communicating in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with ICT risk management frameworks and/or digital resilience work is an advantage.

It will be expected that you actively seek learning opportunities, training, and relevant courses in this role.

We perform background checks on all relevant candidates through our partner EY.

About the company

For more than 100 years Gard, one of the world’s leading marine insurers, has been helping the marine industries to protect their assets and safeguard their income. Having expanded from our origins in southern Norway to a network of 13 offices across the globe, we have witnessed the impact the sea can have and have learnt a thing or two.

Despite our breadth and depth of experience and expertise, we try to learn something new every day to prepare our Members and clients for their next journey, and to find and deliver the right solutions. So, whenever the unexpected arises it is good to know that someone is ready, willing and able to assist; someone with expertise that has been refined for over a century.

It is not just what we do, but how we do it that delivers the best value in the market – matching our expertise with an unrivalled commitment to what we do. We will turn every stone to find a solution and see it carried through.

Such ability and dedication is rare, so we take great care in choosing, training and supporting our employees. The way we see it, our people are the difference between good and great.
